Default Rap annoys me

I was thinking about it, and most, not all, but most rap these days is complete shit. Its just the same things in every song, about the money they have, and the hoes they have, and how much weed they smoke, or how nice their car is, or the chains aorund their neck, its not about anything important or relivant at all. I find rap to be mindless. Does rap completly annoy anyone else here, and you cringe when someone puts it on. Please hesittate to post if your going to rant about how rock sucks and rap is amazing and I just dont understand.

That being said... I completely agree with you. Rap is rather annoying and makes my head hurt. I love jazz, and I love R&B, I love rock (not this new-age stuff, the old stuff... The Who, The Beatles, KISS, Metalica... okay, they're metal, but I like that too )

Nah i'm not saying you cant disagree, but I dont see sense it coming into a room about how I dont like rap, and argueing with me about it. I like jazz too.

I would have to whole heartly agree with you if new aged comercialized rap was what you were talking about. however if you take it to the 90s you will find some really good stuff. But you can only listin to the oldies so much before it gets played out. Me i personaly think that both rap and hip hop is dead.

Rap is not just about that.

I got the projects on lock, they trust my logic
Cause the star cops got it from guns to narcotics
My object is to deprogram, blind your optics
You cannot stop this mission, this topic
Cause you can write tickets my nigga or get paid
Learn this game in the streets and get slayed
Collect this cheese in the end of this maze, or
Hit the desk and fill out forms for days
Need I remind you, how easy it'll be to take
The city by storm with a whole force behind you?
Shotty in the trunk and on my ankle theres a nine too
Cause psychologically the gun you use will define you

-Immortal Technique

This is the exact problem with rap and its views today. Unless you are a true hiphop head, youd never be exposed to the conscious rappers and political rappers. Just because the radio plays what they define as rap, doesnt mean thats what represents the culture.

That being said, all genre's are based on a lifestyle. Country, they are gonna sing about farms, beer, and how their sweetheart left them. Rock, they are gonna sing about sex, drugs, and partyin all night. Alternative/pop, they are gonna sing about their love life, the city life, and any current pop culture.

So all rap is gonna be drugs, streetlife, and sex based, but its those who take it beyond that with real life correlations that define true hip hop.

I am not a fan of most rap that comes out these days..
I do, however, like Jay-z, Nas, Talib Kweli, Common, and some Kanye West...

True to an extent. The mars volta ( which is my favorite band ) is basically rock and they dont talk aobut sex or drugs or partying, they talk about really deep and WERID shit.

yes i do belive that as well however.. most of the known underground peoples that i know of really don't seem like they want to be known. plus if that rapper / singer or what ever
dosnt want to be heard on a wide scale not many people know of them so if all we ever hear is commericalized crap then how is rap gonna progress.. me personaly i think what started the downfall was master p and no limit.but this is what i believe so take it as you
will..you are right there will always be someone out there to put out dope albums. but for the genral public its just to hard to find. they just hear what is feed to them.. and i do consiter myself a true hip hop head
