The song Lateralus by Tool has greatly affected my life, in a very positive way along with many other Tool songs.

"46 & 2 are just ahead of me"

If you know what that song's about, you'll get the joke. Songs that change us.

Red face

If you happen to go on metal-archives.com,look up Insomnium's newest album "Above The Weeping World". The lyrics are all very well written well and are emotional and heartfelt especially for metal. The ones that stick out the most to me are the 2nd track "Mortal Share" and the 3d track "Drawn To Black". They kinda long so im not gonna type them out here but trust me if you like this band these two songs will strike a serious chord in both your mind and heart

That and Insomnium's Above the Weeping World (In my opinion) is one of the best Melodeath albums to be released yet. K++ for recommending it. Did you know they take a lot of their lyrics from famous dark poets?

Default A single song...

...has never changed me, that I can remember.

But I've been MOVED by many!

As a youngster it was The Moody Blues' 'The Best Way To Travel'.

"And you can fly
High as a kite if you want to
Faster than light if you want to
Speeding through the universe
Thinking is the best way to travel

It's all a dream
Light passing by on the screen
And there's you and I on the beam
Speeding through the universe
Thinking is the best way to travel

We ride the waves
Distance is gone, will we find out?
How life began, will be find out?

Speeding through the universe
Thinking is the best way to travel"

It's SUCH a beautiful song, BUT...

Somewhere back in my youth I realized that thinking TOO much is not necessarily a good thing! After the bi-polar took it's grip on me, I now relate to Henry Rollins' 'Disconnect Myself'!

"Don’t like to think too much
It makes me think too much
It keeps my mind on my mind
Don’t want to see too much
It makes me see too much
Sometimes I’d rather be blind

All the things that they’re saying and doing
When they pass me by just fills me up with noise
It overloads me
I wanna disconnect myself
Pull my brain stem out and unplug myself
I want nothing right now

I wanna pull it out, yea
I wanna pull it out, yea
I wanna break it on down, hey
I wanna pull it out, yea, yea
Disconnect myself
Disconnect myself
I wanna see it go down, yea
Disconnect myself

A thousand miles an hour going nowhere fast
Going through the details of your past
Talk about your damage and you’re wasting my time
Wanna be the king and queen? stand in line
All the numbers and the codes and the facts
Backed by the rumors and the figures and the stats
I think I’m going to download my mind

I wanna pull it out, yea
I wanna pull it out, yea, hey
I wanna break it on down, yea
Disconnect myself
I wanna pull it out, yea, yea
I wanna pull it out, hey, yea
Disconnect myself
Disconnect myself, hey

I wanna disconnect myself (do it)
I wanna disconnect myself (get it)
I wanna pull my brain stem out (do it)
I wanna disconnect myself right now

Too damn bad if at the end of the day
The only thoughts in your brain are the things that they say
What a waste
Too damn bad if at the end of the line
You got no idea of what’s on your own mind
You got no one to blame but yourself
Too much to know too much to see
It might mean something to you but it’s nothing to me

Just another ad for someone’s version of how they think it shouldbe
I wanna disconnect myself
Pull my brain stem out and unplug myself
I want nothing right now"

A few other songs make me REALLY start pondering life...like,

Gary Numan - We Are Glass
Faith No More - Midlife Crisis
Neil Young - Old Man

There are plenty of songs that make me think or make an impression on me, but I would say Wookiefoot and many of their songs has had a bigger direct impact on my life than any other band. Especially Activate.
