| Damn, I love the metal posts in this forum. I always find some really good shit. For instance, when I woke up yesterday morning I had never heard any folk metal. A day later I can't stop listening Eluveitie, Finntroll, and Insomnium. Thanks guys! The Amon Amarth show I'm seeing is at the Clubhouse in Tempe, AZ. I was surprised to hear they were playing there because its a small to medium sized club, not even big enough to be called a "theater." But I got my ticket and I'm in, so I'm stoked. I've seen a couple of their concerts on DVD and their live show looks pretty cool. This reminds me of Decapitated They were the second big band on the ticket, but their bus crashed earlier this week in Russia. The drummer and vocalist had to be admitted to the hospital, and the drummer died from his injuries a couple days ago. RIP Vitek |

| Have you seen the Wrath of the Norseman DVD by Amon Amarth? I'd have to say their 'newest' album (With Oden on our Side) is probably their best release yet. Have a good time at the show, with such a small venue should be rather personal and upclose with one of the best metal bands out there. Get me a tshirt!

| I saw Tool on the Lateralus tour. Hell of a show. To warm things up before the band came out, a local high school drum line performed a medley of parts of Tool songs that someone had adapted for a drumline to play. Neat because it was the same Tool songs we know, but all percussion including xylophone and cymbals and all sorts of drums. The stage lighting kept the band members in shadows, with Maynard behind them in the darkest part of the stage. I hear this is because they want you to watch all the craziness rather than watch the actual musicians playing. On the big screens where there would normally be real time footage of the show, they played a bunch of almost nonsensical crazy video clips, that switched back and forth and replayed and stopped and started again. The lighting part of the show is just trippy and wild. A complete visual experience along with the music. They are the only band I've seen who had an intermission, which was cool because 2 contortionists wearing platinum-colored body suits walked out on stage on their hands and feet with their bodies literally folded in half. Their ankles got strapped up to cables that pulled them up about 15 feet above the stage, upside down. Adam Jones's nephew came out and busted out some random trippy shit on the guitar in the same style as Tool. The contortionists started flipping and spinning around, still suspended above the stage, and continued for a good 10 minutes with the guitar still going. The band finished the second half of the show just like the first half. Great show. In terms of originality and being interesting, Tool did the best show I've ever seen. | I can't say I really liked the Dethklok album too much. Their metal is really repetitive. I'ts rather simple too. But I would have to say that the song Bloodrocuted was really good because of the singing. I have heard they have been doing a few live shows with a live incarnation of the band, youtube it and I bet you can find something. |
