This is kind of a late reply but I checked a lot of these groups out and there were some great suggestions.

sigur ros is amazing. That's exactly the kind of music I was looking for. Although some of the songs have words, it is very atmospheric.

Caspian is good too. It reminds me a lot of explosions in the sky, and I like that!

Liquid Tension Experiment is really cool if I'm in the mood for faster stuff. Definitely can hear the Dream Theater influence in it...

A lot of the other stuff was good too

Keep the suggestions coming.....

I'm gonna have to listen to the music y'all are posting.

But i must admit, i am in to guitar music...BIG_TIME.

Anything acoustic is nice for a nice mellow roll, tho i am really partial to Blues guitar.

If you like guitar stuff, you can't go wrong with Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen, etc. Paul Gilbert is awesome, too. He has a song called Marine Layer and it reminds me of standing out in the rain and getting really cold.

Someone mentioned Mogwai and Sigur Ros, which are excellent. Along with the music from Requiem for a Dream, Man on Fire has an amazing score. It is an awesome movie, too.

A final suggestion would be Porcupine Tree. A lot of their songs have words, but it is spacey. Listen to "Arriving Somewhere But Not Here".

---

How did I forget to add Buckethead? He is awesome. If you like mellow guitar songs, definitely check out All In The Waiting, Angel Monster, For Mom, I Love My Parents, Sketches of Spain (For Miles), and Too Many Humans. They are sure to please. He also has a bunch of fast guitar jams, but I like his mellow stuff.
