Default Music Without Lyrics/Words

Lately I've been listening to music without lyrics a lot. It often puts me "in the zone" Does anyone know of any good bands/groups without lyrics/words? (It could be beats too).. Here's a few bands that come to mind..

Explosions in the Sky
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
and lately I'm loving this band, Crime in Choir MySpace.com - CRIME IN CHOIR - SAN FRANCISCO, California - Rock / Experimental / Progressive - www.myspace.com/crimeinchoir

Liquid Tension Experiment is a great one, no vocals in any of their songs. For a taste, try Paradigm Shift or Liquid Dreams.

...I enjoy the Chronos Quartet a bunch! If you've never heard of them, they did the background score of 'Requiem Of A Dream'. Their music is 'haunting'...for lack of a better term.

I've got a bit of Yo Yo Ma at home. He's an awesome cellist!

glorious, have you heard sigur ros? Based on these others you like, you'd probably get into their music-sort of post-rock. One of my friends once described listening to them while driving as feeling like the world is silently blowing up behind you as you go. I thought that was fitting.
I've been more into bluegrass and jazz lately, but it's always changing.

Oh man I love that Requiem of a dream music. I downloaded the music shortly after I watched that movie because I loved it so much

Anyways, Pink Floyd's instrumentals are always nice. Any Colour You Like comes to mind. Mmm that song is like brain candy.

Pink Floyd's instrumentals are pretty good, but I think Rush had some of the best. Most people know of YYZ, especially since it was put on Guitar Hero, but I can't love La Villa Strangiato enough! A great song, as "epic" as an instrumental can get!

I can appreciate composers and all that, but when I like music with no lyrics, I'll usually listen to some band just jamming, playing around....

Liquid Tension Experiment is the first thing that pops into my mind. If you appreciate talented musicians...this is your band. John Petrucci's Suspended Animation kicks ass as well. It's a rock/progressive instrumental album. Steve Vai's Passion and Warfare has some of the most amazing guitar work ever done...check it out. I also like some jazz albums...A Night in Tunisia by Art Blakey is good, and another name that comes to mind is anything by Max Roach.

The Star Wars Soundtrack.
John Williams is a master of creating atmosphere and mood with music, I tell ya.

Danny Elfman is good, too.
