Weed - New Jersey Republican Cultivates Marijuana Decriminalization Bill

NJ Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll, Republican and sponsor of a bi-partisan bill that is cultivating a fan base on both sides of the aisle in the Assembly Judiciary Committee, to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana in the “Garden State”.

The bi partisan support of this bill will decriminalize the ownership of 15 grams or less of marijuana. Those from the Democratic side by Assembly that stepped up for common sense were Reed Gusciora, Bonnie Watson Coleman, Grace Spencer and Peter Barnes.

Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-Trenton) says under the current law, offenders could see their dreams go up in smoke.

“This could affect getting advancement in jobs, it could affect getting student loans,” he notes.

Gusciora (right) says the measure would save taxpayers money, and allow police to make better use of their time.  Story
