The Kottonmouth Kings have been lighting up the studio recording material for their upcoming new album “Mile High,” which drops on August 14th via the group’s own label – Suburban Noize Records. The Kings own Johnny Richter ripped it up and released the new track “Good Pot 2″ online for fans, as they anxiously await the group’s new studio album. Hear the track after the jump in the Youtube clip and check out what strains Johnny Richter is currently smoking as Marijuana.com caught up with the Kottonmouth Kings emcee.
Richter: My favorite strain has got to be the Green Crack from the early 2000′s. I’ve seen It duplicated now for many years but something about the denseness and crazy fruity smell of those batches makes it my favorite of all time.
Have you ever grown weed before, if so what strain?
Richter: Back when I was a lot younger, I use to dabble in some outdoor and help friends with indoor, but I was usually more on the distribution side. I still have a lot of friends producing some of the dankest strains out there while I pursue music.
How long before you think marijuana will be legal?
Richter: I think it’s gonna take a changing of the guard all around from the local level to the federal level. We’ve made great strides with medical marijuana across the country but I think pots gotta better chance of legalization as the blood in Washington gets younger.
Do you have any friends currently serving time for a marijuana offense?
Richter: Presently, I don’t have any friends incarcerated on marijuana charges but there isn’t a show I play where I don’t have a person come tell me about how they just got out – or are about to go in. Thankfully California has extremely lenient laws pertaining to marijuana but that doesn’t mean I don’t know a lot of people who have spent big money fighting them.
Do you surf, skate, snowboard, or record while high? If so, how does it help your performance?
Richter: I have done all three while high and it can go both ways. Sometimes it’s puts you in that groove and everything seems to click and other times all I can think about is a Big Mac and gummy bears!!!!
