Colbert said, "I'm running for President in South Carolina". That indicates to me that he doesn't want to be President. He just wants to run for President. Anyway, it's a moot point. He refused to pay the Republican Party the $35,000 application fee to be considered as a candidate. He paid the Democrats $2,500 for the same privilege, but they declined to put him on the ballot and are sending him back his money.

We'll probably never know, but I wonder if the Democrats denied his application out of fear that he may actually garner more votes than the "real" candidates.

Interesting.

I had heard that he was running for president before, I saw him talking about it on his show - and his Doritos sponsors.

I thought it was hilarious, I'm not even fond of Steven Colbert, regardless I find that kind of odd that they would deny him a chance, after paying the money they send it back.

I dunno, that would be an interesting thing, he has a lot to say but I don't think he ever wants the job, or would be close to capable of it - he is pretty funny though.

edit: I dont know if this was mentioned but Colbert was chosen as the AP Celebrity of the year.
