Christianity, Judaism, Muslim, Islamic..Religions all accepted by a vast number of people. So how do we know which is true if the only proof we have of the matter is that you believe it and maybe the area you occupy promotes it above all other religions. Because really, who is someone to say that another religion is fake and they will be condemned if they don't convert..bla..bla..bla.. because the religion(s) they are accusing of bieng fake believe the exact same thing about all other religions besides their own. (Except ofcourse for Buddhism which allows the belief in other religions alongside itself.) So would it be so wrong to assume that maybe, none of these religions are true? That simple but complex organisms at the same time which is us require a higher bieng to call the ruler of all,the "creator" so as we have a purpose in life and do not get lost in the fact that we are just a phase in the life of this planet, a planet in a solar system, a solar system in a never ending(or vast to the point of never finding an end) space, another organism among many, evolved to the point of bieng able to understand some things that others cannot. And that there is a possibility that there are other biengs out there who have surpassed our point of our understanding and are greatly superior to us. Who consider us what we consider dogs, mice, even ants and worms? What i am about to present is many times more far fetched then anything i have said before and not very likely but still possible as is anything in this life we have so little understanding of. What if....what if our world, our solar system our universe is but a speck, a blade of grass, or a grain of sand, in another far superior biengs world, And there world the same to another, as i said very very far fetched but no at all impossible if you are open minded to the point of bieng able to consider anything thrown at you. What do you think? ![]() ![]() Last edited by cole32547 : 11-21-2008 at 09:21 PM.

Yes I have thought about this, a lot actually. I completely agree with you religions have no way to establish which is more true because none of them have any evidence to back up their claims. I reject them all. Also, I have thought about the idea that our universe is possibly just a speck of sand on the beach of a huge multiverse. Its an interesting thing to think about. You might be interested in reading some of Carl Sagans works, he liked to think about these things too (particularly when he was high) Also you might find this video interesting earth star tiny - Google Video

Here's the thing with religion. The ideals that religion are based on are almost universally the same. Love your neighbor, help others, be selfless, give without counting the cost, etc. All religions, in some form or another, subscribe to these beliefs. Unfortunately, religions are rarely used for their purpose. Their purpose ought to be to bring people together. This isn't the case though. We spend most of our time debating which religion is right. Over the course of human history, millions have died as a direct result of religion. Here's what I propose. Why not try to live by the "basics" of all religions. You don't have to believe in any god to understand that life is better when you help others. If you want to believe in a god, and it helps you fulfill your duty as a human, more power to you. Instead of trying to impose certain beliefs on people, let's help people understand the best way to live. We would be much more productive, resourceful, and efficient as a human race if we were to understand this. Peace makes sense. War is the most illogical, inhumane, unproductive use of resources and human life that I can imagine.

| Religion is based on the golden rule just like the guy above me said. What i want to know is how can people discredit science? How are their people that dont think we evolved from apes? 98% similaritys, they have same manerisms, basicly we look alot like them or vis versa. I know im not the only one to see someone and be like "wow that dude looks alot like a caveman......cavemen look alot like primates.......maybe we evolved from them." Science has proved so many things and they will continue to unsolve new things. My #1 question about Religion is "why does your god allow bad things to happen to good people?" P.S. All religions were written by man so they could have put in or left out whatever they wanted to. PLUS all religions have been translated from dead languages and dielets which dont always translate 100% or even have the same words.

I think there is potential for a happy medium between science and "religion". So long as the religion is interpreted with the best intentions. Think of the possibilities if we dedicated all our resources to science, and technology in order to improve the lives of others. We'd be so far ahead of where we are now. This is the idea behind the Venus Project. I highly recommend researching it, it's got a ton of great ideas. Here's an important point though. People cannot get defensive about the idea of a god. If people want to believe in god, let them. The only thing to get defensive about is when people don't practice what they preach. There are people that believe in a god, and they are very good people. They live their lives selflessly. We shouldn't judge people on their beliefs. We should help people understand however, when their beliefs contradict their actions.
