Frivolous statement by people who have have used sex and the term love to their advantage or in some cases disadvantage.

What is love? is an excellent question though. No matter what the item is (person, object, place, etc.) you feel tremendous in its presence, you cannot be without it for too long. When it is sick or hurt or damaged or it does not exist any longer you are devastated........ fairly simplistic i suppose but y complicate something like love. when it gets complicated it easily falls to the wayside

I once dated a guy who also believed that love was merely an instinct to help us couple and reproduce. I heartily disagreed.
I cannot define love, I couldnt describe the feeling, but those of us who know it, know it.

but that couldn't explain all the different types of love. (well yes it can but it can also explain irrelevant things like telling my legs to walk or subconsciously knowing to breath)

i love my guitar, but i don't want to mate with it; i love my house; i love my grandmother; friends, cat; you see where I'm going with this. why couldn't love between a man and a woman be that type of love and not an evolutionary trait to have offspring. and lets not get into the being gay; because, of course, they can't mate but they still love each other.

For those of you not so keen on poetry, though, consider this example:

My son is 2 and half. He is a natural wonder. We are fortunate that he is the very example of health, gentle in nature, usually happy, curious, remembers everything, learns without effort and is physically beautiful. He is easy to love. He is the very dream anyone who wants a child wishes for. I almost feel guilty because I know what parents go through with their children, and my son is almost effortless to parent.

To illustrate; I took no effort to teach him the alphabet. We chanced upon a website that had an animated presentation, with a female voice announcing each letter. He seemed to naturally recognize this was something he needed to know, and looped through the list over and over on his own, when he was about 20 months old. It wasn't 3 days or so before it was clear he learned them all. I had nothing to do with it.

I'm charmed to watch him grow. He knows me well, and I know everything about him. I've known him since before he was born (and I have pictures of him then).

I can make him laugh with nothing more than a look into his eyes - that's how well we fit together. He knows he belongs to me, and I belong to him. If something causes him pain or fear, he looks to me for help and strength, and I'm honored and delighted to be there when he needs me.

I miss him when we aren't together, which isn't often because I'm home all day. I can't help but smile and even laugh when I think of some playful thing we've done earlier in the day. I can't stop a tear from pride when I see him accomplish each milestone. In him I feel I've made my greatest contribution to the world, a great little human being. He is changing my life as I am helping him create his.

Isn't that a father's love for his son?
