| Consider this. Inaction is as much a choice as action. So, to choose to refrain from a research is as much playing god as choosing to research. |

| I think the real question here is are we being responsible with our ability to create and destroy... We learn part of some natural occourance, and before we fully understand the ramifications of our actions we hail the new "technology" as a salvation of sorts. Take Genetically Modified Wheat as an example. I read an article in Mother Earth News once talking about a strain of wheat or something simmilar that had built into its genetic code the ability to turn catarpillar stomachs into some gooey malfunctioning mess. There has since been a decrease in the butterfly population. Do butterflies have a significant role to play in the grand scheme of nature? If they were all to dissapear because of our "Tinkering" would the world be beter off or worse off? This all reminds me of an episode of SouthPark. (the 5 assed monkey) We aren't yet responsible enough with the power that we have, and as the Aboriginies in Australia pointed out in a book I read recently, every species that we cause to go extinct brings us one step closer to our own extinction. We left nature to forge our own way, and now we would destroy nature through our ignorance of natures laws. Don't test mother nature, she's a powerful person... --KMK

| Yeah, we're playing god. Think about the advancement of the human race-- the whole of it is characterized by gains in our ability to control and manipulate our environment to suit our own needs. It happened when we discovered fire, when we discovered metal, fossil fuels, electricity, nuclear energy.. and it's still happening. It will always happen. I'm not saying its good; its neither good nor bad. It is. I'm curious where the future will take us, but I'm also afraid of that place. The future is a world without nature. A part of me also longs for an ancient past, when none of this was present. The past is a world without humans. I think of it as a giant, godly test of Life. Whoever is best at it wins. Nature was once in the lead, but is slipping. It seems we humans will win, but it's possible we could fall back again. Who knows-- rats are pretty good at surviving, too, as are mosquitos. Maybe the future is a world in which the rats and mosquitos dominate over the humans. And when will it end? At the end of time? Or does life totally extinguish itself every now and then, to be re-lit by a godly lighter? Forgive me if this makes no sense... I love waterfalls. |

| There were 3 of them, they were sisters, born out of mythology... God, Love, Prime Creative Force, All-That-Is- Gestaults of consciousness, layers upon layers, wheels within wheels, cycles within cycles, multidimensional creaturehood extends out beyond the Mutit-verse like a song without end. | i dont think that we as humans have become much more intelligent than our ancestors the cavemen. humans in the last three hundred years have done more damage than the world has seen since its birth millions of years ago. at this rate, we as humans will probably have destroyed the earth in one thousand years or so in the future. i think that this new phase of playing god with living creatures is one that is a task more dangerous than anything we have encountered yet and to make something natural, synthetic, is destroying something beautiful and creating something ugly. and what are we getting out of this? good looking children? more food full of dangerous elements to feed our ever-growing population cheeply? |

| As far as im concerned, if we can imagine something, than it can exsist. therefore human cloning is only morally wrong, but universally i dont think morals exist, soOOooo its not a big deal, he

| When I learned about God, I was taught that he knows all... God knows what you're going to do before you do it. God has all the answers, we humans don't. We may think we're intelligent, but how do we really know? How do we know that there isn't another planet out there with different forms of life, that are 100x's smarter then us? We don't. All we can do is learn from our mistakes. But we first have to make a mistake to be able to learn from it. Let them clone, who knows, it may have answers to other questions that need answering. ![]() |
