| Last night, my roommates and I had a small party (meaning the same amount of booze that would be at a big party, but with less people to consume it). Four of the people at the party decided to smoke some weed, so I rolled a really nice, big cone and we went and smoked it. After we came inside, a couple of us sat on my futon, listened to some Shpongle (psybient music...check it out) and blew up the visualizer to cover my entire screen (I use winamp...better visualizers than WMP). While we were listening to music and watching the visualizer, I wrote down some potentially thought-provoking statements that came to my head (inspired by the music and visuals). Here they are: -Everything that is created must eventually be destroyed -The closer you get, the further away you realize you actually are -We see everything through a lens, and that lens distorts everything we see -Things always seem to change right after we figure them out -Things constantly grow and change, and as they grow, they become more intricate, and as these intricacies grow, they become more intricate, and so on and so forth. -The world put in front of us is obscured by everything we've put in front of ourselves. -Everything that exists is just a shadow of what once was. -Everything that is separate was once connected. -The harder we try to push something away, the harder it is to let go of it. -Time is perception. Things with a lower perception see time as faster, and those with a higher perception see time as slower. I'm not sure what I want to accomplish with this thread...I suppose I just want to give people here some things to think about. I'd like to hear your responses, if you have any. EDIT: Found some more Last edited by Nail I3unny : 06-12-2009 at 08:13 PM. |

| Hmm, I'll have to come back to this thread after wake and bake to add some. The one about perception and time seems right. |

| Ive always found that this exchange in 'The Matrix' is fairly thought provoking: Oracle: I'd ask you to sit down, but, you're not going to anyway. And don't worry about the vase. Neo: What vase? [Neo turns to look for a vase, and as he does, he knocks over a vase of flowers, which shatters on the floor] Oracle: That vase. Neo: I'm sorry... Oracle: I said don't worry about it. I'll get one of my kids to fix it. Neo: How did you know? Oracle: Ohh, what's really going to bake your noodle later on is, would you still have broken it if I hadn't said anything? I bring it down to that old proverb we've all heard at one point or another: What you don't know can't hurt you.

So A dude with a gun going to shoot you in the leg, but you do not know he is there and going to shoot you, won't hurt? I don't know about that proverb man... I think mine would be "There are errors in everythimg in this universe" ![]()

| things are not words, but words could be anything people can say what they want.. it could be all total fabrication or total truth, it will sound the same I think, the question is why do they say it at all? Once its said, it certainly has been said, and that is a fact, apparently. I think the truly 'important' things we have to find on our own because everyone else who has realized them is immediately swept away in their implications so verbal communication is left behind. like if everything is one.. why you state that 'everything is one'? Nobody needs to hear that, its just the way it is, on the other hand, everything is one.. so how could you not state it? I guess its a lot like the matrix exchange... gets to the point where no one knows what they are talking about i think, but thats so exciting Last edited by youareloveninja : 06-29-2009 at 07:03 PM. |

| A few of these are pretty damned mind bending. Though a lot of them are things such as "The tighter we hold onto something, the slicker it becomes" typwe stuff. But I shall reply to them all. In our current world I do not think there is anything that is indestructible. So basic science would support this statement. Quote:

Or it could be said that for living beings it ends with death. And with inanimate objects. They will stop growing and becoming more intricate once all the humans stop growing. Quote:
So how does a shadow produce a shadow? As in EVERYTHING was connected to EVERYTHING else. What about the stuff that wasn't around in the same century as the one before it. Or is this a world creation theory in the sense that everything stemmed from one thing..whatever it was. Hmmm.... Quote:

| If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
__________________ "In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience, but the very existence of external reality, was tacitly denied by their philosophy. The heresy of heresies was common sense. And what was terrifying was not that they would kill you for thinking otherwise, but that they might be right. For, after all, how do we know that two and two make four? Or that the force of gravity works? Or that the past is unchangeable? If both the past and the external world exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable what then?" |

Wanna test it out? Line a woods area with dozens of tape recorders and turn them all on. One day a tree is gunna fall, and then you'll all see that it in fact DOES make a sound.

| No, if no human is around to perceive the vibrations made by the tree, then no 'sound' is made.
