Default So I just finished Ayn Rands "Atlas Shrugged"

x2. This time around I'm a bit more mature, and I got even more from the book.

Its quite scary actually. I love the book to pieces, but its very long. Sadly the people that should read it would NEVER.

Both the "mystics of spirit and muscle" need to read this book (read religious people and socialists/fascists/communists/some democrats :P)

Who else has read it?

I've read the Fountainhead a couple of times but never got to Atlas Shrugged. I own a copy and everything too. Maybe later this summer.

OH MY GOD! I just read it a few months ago and I've been looking for somebody to talk to about it ever since. Isn't it like the greatest book EVER? Everytime i started reading it I had to force myself to put it down.

Right after I finished it I started the Fountainhead and i'm just about done. Retrospectively I wish i'd read them in reverse order cause it's like going form super incredibly amazing to just amazing.

Care to discuss?

Lol yea, my only complaint is I feel bad for Eddie Willers.... I liked that character.

Its really really interesting to read such a broad and expansive book. The book pretty much tells you everything about the characters in an engaging way. Its like most of the book has little sub stories, and the cumulative things you learn from those stories just blows you away, because you literally know the main characters (Dagny especially) intamitly. No other book has ever done that to me.

But who's John Galt?

Oh completely, I could not agree more. I really did feel for Eddie and every character really. Another one was cherryl (spelling?); she got such a bad deal. It was so great but the ending just left me wondering so much. I really wish there was a sequel.

Are you serious about the John Galt question?

South Park doesn't seem to like that book, if you've seen the episode where officer Barbrady learns how to read, but I'll have to pick it up now that I know actual human beings enjoy it

Oh yeah. I thought so but i wasn't sure. What did you think of John Galt's speech?

When do they talk about Atlas shrugged in that episode? I've seen it, but i don't remember that part.

At the end Barbrady said he was going to curl up with a good book (Atlas Shrugged), and right after he said he would never read again because of it. So it's way at the end.

I find it disturbing actually, it's kinda pointless to argue with people who like it, been arguing that one for decades with my brother. Here's a simple explanation:
