I've been trying to have lucid dreams for the past month...
Shit doesn't work for me, I heard you have to stare at your hands before you sleep and during the day.. and count your fingers throughout the day or something like that.. is that true? I've been unsuccessful every night.. I just wanna fly man, and smoke some crazy bud out a 30 foot bong and chill with biggie and big L

hmm that is very interesting, however what do you think would be the corrilation between the similarities of our lives and our dreams? for example, i spent most of yesterday on this forum, last night i had a very nice dream about getting a great deal on some MASSIVE nugs of Northern lights... to be exact, it was half an ounce for ten bucks... i know, great deal.... that was about the time i woke up

So, how would you explain this connection in the theory of dream lives?

The correlation of how we live our lives and our dreams is that when we dream, our mind is running scenarios that it's solving so that when we're awake, we'd be better subconsciously prepared for something that we had gone through already. It generally never makes any sense, but thats where your brain's imagination kicks in.

For example, theres a highway that i take at least 3 days of the week, and a few weeks ago they were doing construction and the construction caused a 70mph 3 lane highway to merge into a 1 lane choke point, and almost everytime i went through there i would have to slam on my brakes so i wouldn't hit the car in front of me, but inch as close as i could to the car in front so the car behind me wouldn't crash into my car. I had seen it happen almost everyday, but luckily it never happened to me.

This caused me lot of subconscious stress, and as a result i had recurring dreams where i'd be on a freeway and i'd crash full force into a parked car, then a car would smash into my car from behind. I would get out my car and start flipping shit at the guy in the parked car but the guy was me. It didn't make any sense but my mind was running a similar scenario and processing it.

So your concept is interesting, but it doesn't make too much sense.

I do a lot of mathematical work, and when I'm stuck on a problem, I go to sleep. When I wake up, I've solved the problem in my sleep and can then sort it all out on paper. Kinda weird, I guess.

So, do you mean that while we're awake, we're living our own lives, but when we're dreaming, we're actually living out what's really going on, even though it's not our bodies but someone elses?
