what if being in love really means staying together and trying to fix your problems together instead of giving up and walking away,what if love really means staying together through the ups and downs,even when it gets real bad like abuse or cheating..it sounds so pathetic and wrong,like you're giving up alot of your time and self and pride for one person who treats you bad and claims to love you,but people make mistakes,so what if love really means staying thru ups and downs..know what i mean?what do you think?

What do you mean what if love meant that. Love DOES mean that. Who in the world thinks love means NOT trying to work things out or not going through the ups and downs. Sooo...what are you talking about?

im talking about what if love means that if you love a guy but he cheats on you and treats you like crap and you stay and even when you guys break up you keep getting back together,like..that has got to be real love becuase you know hes fucked up or fucking you over with his bullshit but you still stay with him

Orrrrrr....the person going back is obsessed or too wound up in a person they shouldn't be.
That is not really love..that sounds more like unhealthy.

I think love is when two people are together and neither cheats on on the other. Of course no one is perfect and some troubles will arise. But cheating is a pretty bad relationship offense. That is not love at all. And getting back together after that is stupid IMO.

"Love" carries whatever meaning an individual assigns to it. Who would be the arbiter who decides what it "really" means? It's one of those words that means vastly different things to different people.

50% of marriages in the US end in divorce. Does that mean that the people involved never loved each other or does it mean something else? Relationships fail - that's a simple truth. If "love" means staying together, there would be millions of couples who hate each other still living together to satisfy the abstract definition of a word.

yea i agree,you are so right.and ive always had the idea that love means soemthin different for everyone but its my damn thoughts taht make me start thinking that maybe its the other way around[what i posted] so thanks

Ya love is a weird concept. Like, I love my parents. I don't know how to explain that love, but I do. I love my dog, but it's a different love from my parents. I don't know how to explain that one.

For me "love" for another person has to mean that I would want to spend the rest of my life with them. I know that's cliche but I honestly can't stand being around even my closest friends for more than a day. I just need my "me" time. So it would really be a big thing for me to be able to spend the rest of my life with this one person.

Love is a term thrown around all to much. Sometimes love is unconditional, like the love for my family. Sometimes love is sincere, like when you meet someone that you greatly admire and you genuinely like to be around that person as a friend and a partner for a lifetime. Sometimes love is unsaid, like my love for my friends. Being a guy I generally stay away from that term when around my good friends, but we all know it's there even if you don't say it.

But sometimes love is used to get what you want. Whether it be sex, money or whatnot. Manipulative people abuse the word love to advance themselves or their addictions.

Love is...complicated. Others see things in love that others do not. Some do not know what love is while others do...or only have a part of the picture. What do I think of love?

I see love as just an emotional flare that gives one the incentive to mate with a female, then perhaps find another one. Or of the same sex, I suppose in some cases. It rarely lasts forever, but just nudges you enough to reproduce. I have nothing against the concept of one male/one female in a lifelong relationship. But my view has wandered over to a simpler explanation that I take little discomfort in accepting. Though that view could just as well change in the future. I doubt I've ever experienced 'true love', and given the kind of mind floating around my brain the chances of me finding a female at the same 'level' as me would be very unlikely.

If I don't find an awesome woman in my lifetime, whatever. I've always been a loner at heart and I love it. If I do find somebody? Cool. However until that happens that is how I see it.
