| I know, I know, what a common question... - but wait. Think about it. Deeply think about every single thing in the entire universe. Every single solar system, planet, galaxy, color, species, molecule, etc... Were these designed by someone or something? Who could have the intelligence to create so many things that fit together so perfectly.. Think about your body. Think about every single blood vessel, organ, and every single thing that works flawlessly within your body. The fact that there are gallons of a red fluid flowing through your veins while you're intaking a gas called oxygen, which is simultanously being absorbed by these two large bags in your chest called lungs, which results in this gas being absorbed and dispersed evenly among your body... To me, the fact that all of this stuff can work together so perfectly and flawlessly just makes me doubt atheism. Me being somewhat unreligious I've never really believed in God, but this stoned epiphany has left me somewhat speechless.. I don't know, now that I think about it, it seems impossible that this universe is just here and we're living here for shits and giggles. That seems like such a silly notion that all of this is just here for some reason. There just has to be someone who designed us.. What are your thoughts? I don't believe in a God per se, but I find it hard to believe that every single piece of intelligent design is just the process of evolution. Not that I don't think evolution isn't true... it definitely is, but evolution still ceases to explain where the first organism came from and even leaves a bigger question.. where did the universe come from?

Maybe it's worth doing some research and doing some deep thinking? Take a look at Pascal's Wager.

| I'm definitely a believer in God, as well as evolution. I believe God (being a higher being. Call him Jesus, Allah, whatever, it's the same being in my opinion.) created the basics. Started it out. The molecules, the organ systems, the different species and food sources. Evolution then came in. Evolution is the experiment... what will die off, what will grow, what will change forever, what we end up with if the world ends. Human free-will, the things we create, the legacies we make, the decisions we make, our impact on the earth, are all part of the experiment. I believe God created the roots of life. But we shape it. This belief is based on absolutely no religious studies, just something that has kind of grown into me.

That's just the thing. WHY does it seem silly to you? WHY do we NEED a creator? Just...why? There's always the possibility of a creator. But then again, there is a possibility for EVERYTHING. Besides the fact that there is no evidence for any creator what so ever, and with the mountains of evidence that things can "just happen," I can say very comfortably that there was no creator. | |

| Think of it this way; Animals like fish don't understand if you told them to do something. They're not capable of understanding complex ideas and emotions (in my opinion, there are some animals with emotions and some without, but anyway...), what if as humans, the fact that we're thinking about who created us or what created us or whatever, is our first step toward evolving into even more intelligent beings. If we evolve into even more intelligent beings, I don't think it's impossible for us to be able to create simple life forms to do work for us. Isn't that exactly what a 'God' is? Someone or something who created us who uses us for some purpose? I think if we're more intelligent than we are currently, we can create life which is able to self-replicate. If we create self-replicating life, that life could evolve over millions and millions of years into more intelligent beings which will ultimately be our replacements. Basically, what I'm saying is... What if there is such thing as a 'God', but our God(s) died out millions of years ago while we were evolving from simple organisms. What if humans could become Gods ourselves? I'm certain that we can't live to see our sun burn out, so what if we created our replacements to continue life in the universe, spread it in different galaxies and attempted to leave behind clues of our existence as if we were the organism's parents? I don't think it's foolish to think of 'God' as anything more than a being that is more intelligent than us who can alter our lives. I'm a Christian, btw. |

| We need God because we need to answer the question "why?" If there is no answer to "why?" then why do we keep asking it? I believe we ask "why?" because our creator put that question in our hearts in order to seek out the answer and in consequence find Him...the ultimate and only answer to "why?" And why do you care why anybody believes in God. You should be out enjoying your life rather than wasting what little time you have arguing here, right? |
