Default Something to think about

Here is something to think about....
Im not really to sure where this came from but I just starting to think about this out of the middle of no where one day when I was stoned.
What if you were given the choice before you were born (if you were a spirit or something like that) to either live your life out and know that you are going to die , that you are going to be hurt by people, people around you will die, you will make mistakes and have to deal with consequences, all the hardships in life. OR to not live your life at all and never feel hurt, sadness, depression, or anything like that.
What would you do?

What if another condition of this was, that if you chose life, you would forget ever existing before you were born and being faced with this decision? With that stipulation this could have actually happened!

Interesting point, Cassius. Kind of relates to a previous life, if we are just the same spirit reincarnating into physical bodies over and over, and none of us remember the previous life until we finally achieve a certain consciousness so we can actually remember. But are those "rememberances" actually real, or something we perceive?

Anyways, to answer the question: I would live life, with the depression, sadness, turmoil, death, pain, struggles, etc. because that is what life is. There are also other things like love, happiness, joy, bliss, friends, family, siblings, and an array of feelings and emotions. You can't have life, you can't LIVE life without experiencing sadness or pain once and a while, because in the end, you are still living

that is a really hard question......
me being stoned right now i have had some time to think about it.....

i would say that i would live life too. i think that if you never experienced anything then you would never get the chance to smoke weed. cause the first time i picked up a joint i was all sad and thinking about suicide.

therefor i would live out life...not only because of weed but because i would never get to know what love was and i wouldnt ever know what other people were going through. i wouldnt be that great of a friend because i couldnt talk to them about what they are going through cause i would never have gone through that.
i am the type of person who loves to have people talk to me about their problems. i love to give advice and then ask advice from them. i am a very emotional person

so yeah i would live life.

What if, as part of the condition of choosing life, you had to enter into a contract that if you were "good" you would go to heaven after your life concluded and if you were "bad" you would go to hell? Furthermore, accepting life means you not only forget ever making this agreement, but you also forget what God's stipulations as to what "good" is? Would you still choose life, even if it meant you might suffer eternal torment if you didn't live up to God's expectations? God being whoever you made this agreement with before entering life, it may not be the Christian God or the Buddhist God or necessarily any other God of the known religions -- God is an unknown.

I would chose life,
but if we have never experienced something directly or indirectly would we really be able to comprehend what 'depression' and 'hardships' are?

Without a doubt I would choose to live. Without living, you wouldn't even know what death, pain, suffering, happiness, etc are. To exist without life would be a long, idle existence. It wouldn't even be boring, because you wouldn't know what it is to be bored.

I'd ask what I'd be doing if not living life.

There is also the question of is there a heaven or hell?
Maybe God is just playing around with us and there is no hell or heaven... maybe you just all go to this one place and stay there when you die or get reincarnated.. there are endless possibilities to what can happen to you when you die... I am one of those people that thinks there needs to be a scienetific view on what happens after death but who knows what happens?

I would pick to live my life because every single person has the same experince (sadness, Depression, Death etc.) and also being stoned leads to deep thoughts and panic thoughts, so keep on talkin about it, Im open minded and i would like to know more about it.
