I read about a theory, to do with the big bang, how it expands, and will retract, only to do it all over again.
I just tried to find the theory, but I don't know the name of it or anything.
It was interesting.
But that..along these lines, every atom or molecule that make up these things we see around us, and ourselves etc. are more or less..stuck? together
so, when the big bang becomes the big crunch, and it all starts again, all those atoms/molecules/w.e form together again, etc
So..we'd be living our exact lives repeatedly, forever, and have, forever.

It'd be muuch better if I could post the link to the theory, or paste the main facts, and the things that help support it, but I don't know what the theory was called
I stumbled apon it while high one night, while searching through other things
If anyone knows what I'm talking about, the theory, etc, please help me out by telling or posting the link or theory n such.

From my understanding, the Big Bang followed by a 'Big Crunch' theory doesn't imply that the universe will be the exact same I would imagine that every Big Bang would create a new and different universe.

Current measurements of the density of matter in the universe and the rate of expansion preclude the Big Crunch. The universe will just keep expanding forever.

I'd agree with Buzzby here. On an emotional level I tend to like the idea of the big crunch, it's the ultimate in recycling. Instead of everything ending it would just rebound and start all over again, and maybe already had many times.

But from everything I've read it's the least likely end for the universe and I tend to doubt we'll end there. The two which seem to draw the most support are the big freeze (or heat death of the universe) and the big rip. In the freeze scenario all hydrogen is eventually used up and stars die, then everything else cools and degrades until the universe is one big, bland state of total entropy with all matter totally degraded, eventually even black holes.

The big rip also depends on expansion continuing but in that case expansion continues to accelerate until eventually it tears matter apart into unbound elementary particles, starting with the large stuff such as galaxy groups and eventually working its way down to the solar and planetary scale.
