Default Perfect?

I recently had a discussion with my friend and I realized that me and him have very differing ideas as to what perfect is. My friend started out stating that nothing is perfect. I however believe that everything is perfect because it is exactly what it has been made to be. What do you think it means to be perfect?

Perfect means whatever you want it to mean.

What is absolutely perfect to one person is average to another.

So since you see the earth around you as functioning correctly, that is perfect to you, your friend however does not view that as perfect and youre both right.

I agree with your friend that nothing is perfect. If everything was perfect then life would be too easy... It's the imperfections in life and how you deal with them that make life interesting.
I can name many things that are certainly not perfect, and pretty damn far from it. Ex: Serial killers/rapists, corruption, greed, genocide, our deteriorating environment...

My response to you is that you are looking at perfect from a stand point of time. I would say perfect is only in the present. Gravity comes to mind when I think of perfect, and with that all of the other natural laws that are guiding what is happening from second to second. I would say that perfect is simply a cause and effect reaction.
That is why those things you said may not be perfect in whether or not they should have happened, but in how they happened. Therefore everything that has happened has perfectly happened.

I was gonna say that if something can be perfect there has to be someway for it to become imperfect, and I don't think your definition of everything being perfect can ever become imperfect. So in effect it would not be perfect, it would be nothing. But I guess the fact that it can't possibly become imperfect adds to it's perfection.

so stoned right now....

If the universe was "perfect" there would be no reason for it to continue on into the future as it was at its 100% completion, however i think that the universe is "perfectly imperfect" allowing it to function perfectly with flaws ths meaning it can eternly adapt and improve iteslef...

in short = nothing is perfect in a sense but more so perfect in its own ability to function and exist even if its imperfect...

woahhh totally freaked myself out
