it 2 in the morning and im having deep thoughts, so im gonna lay them out on yall. does anybody else wish that a giant meteor would just hit earth and kill everything at once? no more war, sadness, poverty, hate-all gone with no pain.

im usually a pretty easy-going guy, but recently ive just been thinking about how insignificant i am, how everything is. im 16, i know i have raging hormones or whatever throughout my body, but does anybody else know what i mean? eventually everyone is going to die-no matter what. i hardly get depressed, but its depressing as hell to me the direction that mankind is going in-all we do is fight, and our weapons just get bigger and bigger until we'll probobly just blow ourselves out of existence. i dont really have that much to look forward to. (besides more pot) .i dont believe in any kind of religion- i think death is just like sleeping, youre not concious, not unconsious-just there,decaying. i dont wanna sound all emo/depressed young teen on all of you, but id really consider suicide if there wasnt people that cared about me.

but there are people that care about me, and a giant meteor probobly isnt going to hit earth anytime soon, so i might as well quit my b*tching. i feel better now, i like getting my thoughts in ink.

Hey there Dan . First of all, about that meteor thing.... HECK NO MAN! Life's too good

I think many of us have had those same thoughts at least once in our lives, at least I know I had them. I was once very suicidal, I hated being alive because I didn't believe there was any purpose in life, much because I didn't find one.

The thing is that I have always thought like that, life has an end, why spend the time and wait for death, lets get too it, there's too much pain and hate inthis world! Then I began to realize that, yes, it would be real hard to change all that, but I knew that if more and more people began to think that way then hell, let's get it over with!, so I began to think what would happen if the opposite was done.

If many people thought and acted like there was a better tomorrow, that something could be done to change the world to make it a better place, then it would be entirely the oppposite, life would be too good and people would never want to die (uhm... although I don't think most people want to die), as in "life's too good! let's make a potion up so we can have 80 more years of life!".

I think this can develop to be an interesting thread.

PS: I don't think you are having any sucidal thoughts, but if you do get them, please talk about them first before doing anything about it , just some advice, if you ever need it (<- love this freaky guy, he cracks me up!)

Just because we are mortal now doesn't mean we will always be that way. Lifespans used to be longer than they are now, because the early advent of technology means more pollution, more toxins, more bad habits, things like that. However eventually technology will swing the pendulum the other way -- with new advances in medicine, etc our lifespans will start getting longer again, and eventually we'll find cures for things like cancer, heart disease, and the common cold. Eventually we might grow up as a race and get rid of poverty, war and the like.

Trying times we live in, to be sure, but compare it to other historical periods. It could be a lot worse -- imagine living in the dark ages with the Crusades, or in Nazi Germany, for example. At least today equality is a lot further along -- blacks can vote, women can vote, gays while not quite accepted are at least not criminalized. We've come a long way... and yes, we still have a long way to go. But if you want to keep what we've achieved so far, and continue to build on it, then instead of sulking about your own mortality, go out and help make the world a better place for your children and your children's children.

Where do I start?
Well first of all I have to tell you that a lot of us have been depressed enough to consider sucide. Though it sounds like psyco-babble remember that sucide is a PERMANENT solution to TEMPORARY problems.
How will you ever show the world the great things you are able to accomplish?

As for the comet hitting the earth thing. My feelings are that everyone knows that they will someday die. So, why do we keep fighting over such petty ****? Why can't we all just acceptour mortality and understand that the only thing we can contribute in this life is our children. We are so selfish in that we have neglected them and made money and power, more important than life and the protection of it's virtues.

I want you to remember one thing "I_like_pot". That WE, the ones who think deeply, feel deeply,and are hurt deeply, are the ones who (with persistance) will change this world for the better.

You're right, because in the end, we're a mere insignificant life, practically meaningless to the rest of the world. But yet it is our choice of how we want to live and what we want to make of our life. Who's to say there isn't an afterlife, or maybe reincarnation? There will be a judgement day, no one gets off this planet without answering to some kind of higher power I appreciate people who have something to post about other than their new smoking invention made out of household appliances.

Your right, there is so much **** in this world that sucks - war, poverty, corruption, etc. When you start thinking about all the bad stuff, just stop and think about the good stuff like new life, weed, women, etc. I know the world is ****ed up but life is too short and good to worry about the bad stuff all the time. Thats the main reason I smoke, to forget about the bad stuff and also for deeper thought.

They aren't religious books, and they probably won't eat your soul, and are both very VERY good reads. They've put a lot of interesting thoughts in my head about life and the direction humanity is taking.
