Default More About Dreams :Stoned Dreams

Some people take dreams way too seriously, they analyze them and try to tie their dreams to current life. I happen to be a big dreamer, and this is mostly guided by the fact that i smoke a bowl or two before I go to bed, so I usualy have stoned dreams. My dreams are very vivid, and are so far from reality that sometimes i can't relate to what happens in my dreams. Many of my friends take nitehits, but not all of them experience dreams such as mine. My dreams can be compared to a mix between The Wall - Pink Floyd and childrens commercials.
But my dreams and my life are completely different and separated. I do not try to predict the future from what I see in my dreams, I just enjoy my dreams as I would a movie. But here's my question, and i know it goes against my principals against analyzing dreams and shyt. Are my dreams created by my thoughts before I go to sleep, or are they completely random weird trippy dreams? Does what I do in my day affect what i will dream the night of?

its a combination. Your brain is very active in sleep, its like a computer downloading files from one hard drive to another hard drive, busy busy, going through all kinds of data from birth to that very moment.
All your real memories, all your waking fantasies, all your past dreams are being shoved around and processed and in that making up entirely new and never before imagined experiences and storing it away for reference.

Its healthy chaos for the most part. You can practice to influence your dreams by meditation and concentration, you can become aware in your dreams and focus them to live a life you can't in reality. Or you can just relax and let yourself have a nice free flowing trip with no interferance of your will power.

Cannabis has varying effects on sleep. Chronic users tend to lack REM sleep, and when use is stopped the return of REM sleep feels un-natural like a restless night full of brain activity, with vivid dreaming full of action and strange stuff. Lack of REM sleep has its own advantages and drawbacks for some people. I think to go too long without REM sleep may cause day time irratibility and some other problems. I would have to look into this though, its been forever since I read about this stuff.

sweet dreams

The brain is "divided" into 2 parts: The Conscious and Subconscious.

Experts refer to the Conscious part of the brain as the "rational" part, the one that has "control" over one's ideas, which come from the subconscious or imaginative part. So, as you may know, when you are sleeping, your brain is in subconscious "mode", and therefore, our dreams are just somewhat irrational ideas flowing in our minds that, without the "screening" process of the conscious mind, they make little sense.

That's why when you awake, and remember your dream, you don't find any explanation, or any rational one, to it.

That's the scientific aspect, many say that the dreams we have are "visions" that we are having of the future/past and/or that these dreams may be the key to life and/or many other things... In my opinion, the scientific part makes a lot of sense and, probably, is very true. As for the "vision" matter, well, I can't say really, because I'm a very light sleeper, I have much trouble remembering my dreams, although I always dream (as does anyone else) because I always have ideas in my head (again, as does anyone else).

There is one thing I am willing to say, and this is that the mind is very powerful, and the ideas one has are almost always linked to the surrounding environment and/or experiences one has. Threrefore, our dreams, being, in their essence, ideas, may be linked to more things than we know.

Do they predict future events? Do they warn us of some things? Who knows, I don't think anyone can really say until we have completely mastered the use of our minds.

The majority of my dreams revolve around things that happened early that day - it can be anything from one of the many people I've interacted with to an object that caught my eye. A lot of it is subliminal, and when I wake up and think about it I can pinpoint where I encountered it during the day.

A cool thing I started to do is the minute I wake up (even if I'm just going to go back to sleep) after a dream, I go over the details I can remember in my head. If I wake up again I have a much more vivid memory of my dream, whereas I'd usually just forget the details. I've heard that writing your dreams down encourages lucid dreaming, but who really wants to do that after they wake up?!

When it comes to marijuana and dreaming... I think it all depends on how much you've smoked. If I'm exceptionally stoned chances are I won't dream (or won't remember) and if I'm buzzed I'll have a nice dream. Sometimes I've had bizzare dreams after smoking, but who knows if that was from the bud or my crazy brain...
