| This thread keeps reminding me of Leonardo DaVinci, based purely on scientific assumption he was by far the most intelligent man to have ever walked the earth. With an estimated I.Q. of 284 which spans into every form of applicable thought and theory, some have also speculated that this level of intelligence was due to having used roughly 23% of his total brain mass at any perticular time. Take this into consideration, he invented the helicopter which he called the "gyrocopter" but was unable to build a prototype due to the fact that modern technology had not reached the point where it could have created the materials needed. But after so much technological evolution it is possible, and the interesting thing, is that based on his blueprint, yes, it does function. So a look at his life would help reveal (to some extent) what is required to train ourselves to use more of our brains. The man surrounded himself with knowledge, both factual and contemplative. And it is made quite obvious through his paintings, designs, writings, and general hobbies that he preferred the contemplative state of mind. Always looking at the world from every angle in an attempt to see some way of changing it. And as you well know, he succeded. Now I'm not saying to live your life in his footsteps, but that the brain, like any muscle, will grow with exercise. Challenge yourself, provoke thought if it doesn't come on it's own, but never stop considering what might, or could be. And remember what Einstien once said, "only two things in this world are infinate, the universe, and the stupidity of man, and I'm not sure about the universe". |

| Think of "brain usage" as you would think of a muscle (as the brain is many times reffered to as a muscle). Every time you contract a muscle, another one expands (or stretches). If we were then to assume that the brain is a muscle, then what other "muscle" stretches when we use it? I think this has to do with the brain's "areas". Every time you do something you use a part of your brain, but only a part - as some have said in this thread, you use 10% of your brain, but that does not mean you never use the other 90%. This means that when you are using a 10%, you are most likely to not be using the other 90%, which is, in that moment, "stretching" (everything needs a time to rest, even God!). So there you have it, that is an example of how one uses the mind (brain). Peace.7L
