Default School project

Hey in school today we were split into groups and asked to create our own utopia(type of government population, ecenomic resources). I was thinking who would know better than all the friendly stoners on MJ.com! Any input will be appreciated and considered

thanks!

What parameters did they give you?

Can you choose your own natural resources, geographic location, etc?

basicaly we can choose any number of people we want living there, any location, any resources, and the government we see fit. It's pretty much designing an entire civilization.

This is really cool. Funny thing though, of the few times I've seen this done, usually the man made utopia's implode. It's like, we think we have all the answers, can solve all the world's problems, then when we put them into action, we see how futile it really is.

Creating and running a country while not something I'd enjoy, it's interesting to watch!

My suggestion, use Hemp as your primary source of fuel and fiber.

peace

If this was taking place today, my country would be about where Panama is, be sitting on a giant puddle of oil and be ruled by a constitutional monarchy (me). Think UK with a watered down (I am King) version of their Houses of Lords and Commons with the power to only construct laws proposed by the Crown, set the flat rate of taxation and ability to settle claims to my crown. Those houses to be elected by popular regional vote.

The Crown would hold control over everything that wasn't law making, and retain a complete veto power.

A constitution documenting the basic rights of every person that touches your soil.

All people have the right to personal freedom
Free speach
Right to Privacy
Right to own any weapon that is not "area of effect"
Right to freely own property

There would be 2 citizen classes, both enjoying the same freedoms but with a service class that has the right to vote. There would be a one-way path to the voting class (i.e. you can go from non-votin to voting but not visa versa). The voting privilage can only be attained via civil service (think Heinlein's Starship Troopers - the book, not the movie) with the addition of non-military avenues of civil service.

Basically a free-market economy.

I am going to stop. Otherwise there would be no end...

Personally I would prefer the native american life before the land was taken over by the newcommers. They lived in a beautiful paradise. Much of the USA was like a jungle. The land was inhabited by small tribes to largely populated cities. Their economy was based on regional trade, food crops and spiritual herbs were traded. Many of today's fruits and vegitables originated in the USA. Every tribe had their own way of doing things. They would host big parties or cermonies to improve the moral of their people and relations with other tribes.
Men had to proove themselves by stealing something from another tribe, or to go on a long quest. Quests were likely a way for tribes to gain trade relations in distant lands.

Wars were fought to gain status among different tribes, and for defending or expanding their territory. Some wars may have been fought to protect or avenge stolen property. ... I might have more ideas on this later im about to go smoke.

Oh yea their science was pretty interesting too. They tried to make something out of everyhting
Also its believed that they knew how to genetically engineer plants the natural way. The corn crop originated from a grass called tenosite. All their berries have similar leaves. All their plants were pest resistant, could this be due to their tobacco plant (a natural pesticide). I wonder if they grew marijuana. Its a very nutritious plant, its seeds are one of the healthiest in the world. It likely spread from The southern continents when they were connected, its a prehistoric and historic plant.

Be sure to get the phone numbers of the people in your group, so you can contact them about it later.
