| So, what is consciousness? Deep writings of the SevenLeafs I believe we are all the same thing, that we are all the same person, the same being, the same form of energy. That's why we all think alike sometimes; that's why we understand each other; that's why we think in a way that we don't really know how to explain, something that's very complex, unique, and we do it every time. There is not one single moment in which we might not think, and that includes being in a coma - in my opinion -, because we don't know what goes inside a person's head while they are in that state of mind. Maybe they are dreaming, but not like we dream at night, when we go to sleep, instead, they are having some different kind of dream - I leave that to your imagination -, and when they wake, and find themselves in some strange room, that short shock completely erases what little memory they had of that "dream". And then there are those that don't wake up, "vegetables" I believe they are called; a living organism that does not show any signs of thought, but keeps on living, just like any other plant. So, some would consider these unfortunate people "lost souls", or the "living dead"... if you will. I like to think that they are more fortunate than we think; it is we that are unfortunate for not understanding what happens in that state of unconsciousness. But this is all hypothetical, off course, and only skimmers the true point I would like to make. What if that person is not entirely aware that he, or she, is not conscious? What if that person is still thinking, but in different manner, just like I mentioned earlier with dreaming? You see, I believe that we are all the same, that we are just one huge entity that represents itself through different faces, or masks, each with a different consciousness, and all with the same unconsciousness. It is the moment when You, when I, when we All, as a single unconsciousness, choose a mask and decide to become an individual. It is when the unconscious, when God if you will, meets the conscious that we are born, and it is when the body, our conscious self, gives up, or dies, that we become, or remember, how we are at the core. It is in that moment that we are again one, that we are all I, as we always are and remember sometimes in our dreams. But there are times when we experience death without actually dying, just like when we are in a coma. Just like a seed waiting for the water, so that it can begin to develop its roots and then become a most beautiful plant, our body lays there motionless, waiting for the water that will let it live again, waiting for our spirit, out mind, to unite once more with it. The mask rests until its wearer decides to use it once more. The mask may be used again, and it may be forgotten completely, and in the end it will always have the same fate, it will be replaced by another. We also need to rest from this masquerade party, and it is in those moments that we remember that we are something else than what our masks represent. When we sleep... When we meditate... When we smoke ganja. 7L

| I agree that everyone is interconnected in some manner. However, I think we are all so similar because each society tells is inhabitants that they should act a certain way for every little aspect of life. I also think that we experience different levels of conciousness throughout each day. The level of consciousness can determine how effectively one takes in surroundings and sees the world. |

| I have often thought this. I feel it is disreputable on evidence. The most simple organisms are ones dating back to the beginning of life: colonies of bacteria less complicated than algae. They live, yet there is nothing slightly remote to suggest they maintain any form of consciousness whatsoever. Certain aspects of their 'genetic' code tell them to react in certain ways with various chemical procedures. That is all, and that is by no stretch 'consciousness.' When biology integrates into ecology into complex 'food-chains' etc, consciousness is developed...albeit on a very rudimentary level. We must walk to find food...to walk we must have muscles...to use muscles we need brain stimuli: its all as primitive as it ever was and will ever be... In my oppinion, anyway ![]() I feel it would be a bit more blatant if some sort of tanscendence existed within our sentience...just my two pennies' worth. I like the mask imagery though

| Very nice thoughts 7L, I was just wondering if you believe these ideas completely, or you feel that it is a good model for the way that consciousness and life functions. If you believe it is a good model, then perhaps it is only a good model for the way that you visualise and percieve the world that you live in. I wonder if everyone analysed their world in the same way, and wrote a short piece about it (like you have above), would they all collaborate, or differ according to the person... I love thought... | Hey there Jj, Sorry I haven't responded to this thread in a while... had some trouble. Anyways, I wanted to focus my response on this particular thing you say: Quote:
I believe (although I have read very little about it) in carl Jung's universal consciousness and think that it also goes in check with a universal subconsciousness. All this goes in accord with what I have explained in different threads: that God is our Universe, not that 'parent figure' we associate the word with, and, because we are part of that Universe (of that God), we are all the same... uhm.... 'inside'. So, we all think alike (including animals), act alike and are alike.
