| Hopefully we will either be extinct or have learned to conserve our planet. Because personally I would rather we dissappear than destroy this planet. Not to be peesimistic but I think the rich will still be greedy and the poor will still be poor poor. |

| No offense, but you must be really young if the concept of "a hundred years" sounds like an unimagineable amount of time in which the human race may go extinct. There's people that live longer than a hundred years, so in effect, you're looking at a little over one human lifetime. I don't know how healthy it is to wish you own species dead, either. -HH |

So, if we have already experienced this "decadence" in "world sanity" over the past 100 years, then who's to say we won't "dry up" the world in 100 years more? Peace.7L

I'll be the one to say it . . . humans will still be around in 100 years. You heard it here first. -HH | |

| I think you misunderstood me or Im too high to put across my views. I was merely saying that I would prefer the human race to be extinct in 100 years than have us keep destroying the planet in the way that we are. Maybe I But anyway back to the point. WHERE WILL WE BE? I mean weve taken a great leap in the last century, what about the next?? |

The reason devastating new diseases don't wipe out whole species is because elements of species live in isolated populations. A new disease might destroy one population and leave all the rest untouched. Humans no longer have that advantage. We are, for the most part, a single global population. A sufficiently deadly disease could take us all out, or at least enough of us not to leave a viable population. Consider a disease like AIDS. It has a ten year latency period between acquiring the virus and the appearance of symptoms. As of yet there is no cure. We are very lucky that it is transmittable only through direct contact with certain bodily fluids. Had it been an airborne virus, like the common cold, everyone would have it and the human race as we know it would not exist today. We've been lucky. We can't count on being lucky forever. By the way, we're about do for a major comet strike... ![]()
