| When i smoke i get very deep thoughts about myself and who i am. I'm sure everybody does it..but is the person you see yourself as when you're high really you? Most of the times I only see the bad qualities. I wish my highs would be more happy. I've been smoking a lot more recently than ever in my life, and it seems that my highs are more "down highs" than "up highs". Can any of you guys relate to what I'm saying? Or give any advice? |

| I tend to be just the opposite. When I'm not high I think I'm a bad person and can only think about the failuers. . .Then when I am high I'm like "O yea, I did this and I did that and that's cool. . .and looks like I'm gonna be alright on that one after all". I do know what you mean though. . .Next time you're high think about the good things and if you're truly as "bad" as you have been thinking. Matt |

| If I am feeling good about myself before I get buzzed then I don't usually get a down high.It also depends on the herb.Besides, the more I think "happy thoughts" the less time I have to get depressed,or down, and I begin to notice that the people around me are happier I've also found that if I use my herb as a reward for having a good day,the thoughts just preceed the buzz, and all is good for the moment Rev.suede

| My theory is that weed is a 'cleansing' plant. It purifies (or tries to) you body and mind. You have the weird thoughts about yourself when you're high, and sometimes they're bad, and sometimes it's good, it all happens when it is purifying your mind. You see, I believe that weed presents things as they are, letting you witness the good and bad of everything. This is the major power of ganja, it lets you see the truth, and then helps you evaluate those 'observations' by relaxing your body (and to which the opposite would be the side effects of paranoia we sometimes feel when high - another example of how weed shows us every side of things.) Peace.7L

| Yeah I agree 7L, I find that when people smoke they act more like themselves. I mean that more of whoever you really are (your soul, i guess) escapes more out of your body, which usually acts as protection from the outside world (both physically and mentally). I think the paranoia is when you realise how vunerable your mentality is, and how much your body has stopped protecting it. Weed surely is the way to the definitive truth, if there is one. JJBongalong. And as for up and down highs, I just feel pretty much enlightened all the time now (stoned or not), so I guess that is an up . |

With weed, we tend to feel every emotion, at the same time, while being relaxed (one of the ultimate 'good' emotions) and we tend to feel every emotion, too, while being paranoid (one of the ultimate 'bad' emotions). This all happens at the same time, that is why, in my opinion, people tend to act very 'good' while high, or very bad, because we feel relaxed, so everything funny, for instance, makes us feel even better. And everything fearful - like the thought that you could loose your liberty - makes you feel worse. This is why some people love marijuana, or hate it. People who hate it, in my opinion, must have some troubles - both in mind and body, or one or the other - and haven't realized that they have them, or haven't solved them, and have proceeded to repress those 'sentiments'. While high, those 'sentiments' flourish (just like you stated: "(...) more of whoever you really are (...) escapes more out of your body (...)". This, in turn, makes you 'easy pray' for the fearful emotions, which then proceed to take over you. The same happens with the 'cheerful' emotions. If you let the 'power' of ganja flow through you, you will be able to understand why you feel the way you do (be it good or bad, and/or both) and then proceed - only if your will so desires - to correct your 'situation' accordingly. I have too felt "pretty much enlightened all the time now (stoned or not)", and I am glad for it. Now I can ultimately view the things I see with balance, not distorted. Peace.7L | |

| Hi this is my 2nd post...I love this site and have been looking for people to discuss the state of mind we have when we smoke. I think it is fascinating. I have really thought deeply about the changes to ones thinking and I have come up with this activity. Try writing while your stoned. Your thoughts are, at the time, going to seem extremely profound, however the next day reread your writings and you willl find that you know these things already. The issue is that smoking helps you APPRECIATE your thoughts more. When you are not stoned you may think for example; "I really am not loving my wife the way I should" while NOT stoned this thought will pass in a brief second and you willl move on...but when stoned you will dissect that thought to get behind the REASONS why and really have a much clearer understanding. I really beileve everyone should get stoned once a week to cleanse themselves...I believe it is the most mentally heathly thing one can do. I also sincerely belive that some of the greatest minds in human history can up with their historical contributions while under the influence. As far as feeling bad about yourself...let me clue you in on a tactic to counter that: This I think happens to everyone from time to time...the intersting way to deal with it is to RECOGNIZE you are feeling that guilt and look at it objectively: In other words set those thoughts outside of yourself and view them as an object. If you are really down it is quite simple to force yourself to change the attitute to a positive view. Just tell yourself it is the weed, then think of good things you do in life...you also may be overdosing...I belive most people smoke more than they need to have a satisfying high. Dave P.S. If you were wondering I'm not stoned now! |

| Hey there Dave, Welcome to the forums. It is very interesting, to me, to hear these thoughts from someone else, I'll be looking forward to what you have to say on other issues. Now, to reply to your 2nd post: Up to your fifth paragraph, I agree. But you say some things in paragraph five which I would like to 'counter'. I simply do not agree with what you are saying, eventhough I have felt that way before, because you are only stating a part of the "tactic to counter" the bad feelings. You do have to look at it objectively, and once you accomplish this, you should ask why it is that way. By doing this, you can understand why you are feeling bad, looking at it objectively, and realizing that your fears, insecurities and inner conflicts have no basis. And if they have, the root of the problem is so weak that a slight adjustment will annihilate it. Also, I don't think you can overdose on weed. My experiences dictate that one reaches a point were you cannot 'elevate' further, the more you consume, the more you realize it. Sometimes it reaches the point of appreciating the smallest high you can get, so you can get the best out of a great thing. Peace.7L |

| Cannabis has always been an "Evoker" of emotion, for me. That is, if I'm truly feeling one way, it will not only let me act that way more openly, but it helps me feel that way more extensively. |
