Default live forever

ive herd that humans only apparantly use 10 percent (or some number) of there actual brains.

according to science in milions and millions of yrs things just die ie the sun, stars and even planets. so therfore our earth must die out eventually right.

so what if the only way humans could keep on existing was to learn and learn new things so that when our brains reach the 100 percent brain capacity we would then finally have the ability to understand why we are here ec , the meaning of life.

natural instinct is to survive so what if there was a way for anything to live for ever as long as it found the "reason" to do so. the only thing that has the ability to do this is "space - the universe" it just continues in all directions forever. so if the universe can do this why cant otherthings.

the earth will be destroyed and humans could possibly become extinct but what if all we had to do was evolve til we can use 100 percent or our brains, and evolve to the same "wave length or frequency" that the actual universe uses, so we could possibly live forever and just exist just liek space does.

Ok so this might seem pretty insane to whoever is reading this but this made so much sense the other night when Sonic and I hit the most potent bud we'v smoked in 3 years of toking.

Anyway, expanding what Sonic is trying to get at us here is....

It seems humans are slowly gaining the ability to use more of the brain cells that have been given to us. Right now it's said we seem to be only capable of using around 50% of our brain cells.
Evolution says that we came from cave men, who were pretty damn stupid, althouth they didn't have education I still think their ability to use their brain was more limited then ours. Over time humans seem to be gaining more knowledge about EVERYTHING, not just coming closer to space travel and the meaning of life, just everything we can do more efficiently. We are getting better education as time goes on but I have this beleife that whatever created us (our control) seems to be giving us the ability to use more of our brains for the better of this world. At the same time limiting the use of our brains cause 'our control' does not beleive we are ready to use the brain power we COULD have.

This limiting factor could be because the control (some god) beleives that we could use this extra brain power for the wrong reasons, maybe even ending this civilization by mistake.

Over time we will gain more knowlege but at the same time evolve even more. Not physically but neurologically (more brain cell usage) We could be smart enough to work out how to tweak our bodies chemically to live on other planets that have different climates and gravity. This sort of power that seems quite far fetched at the moment could well be the answer to human survival for eternity.

............. Damn that weed was good

I think Snopes is a pretty reliable source for the facts on myths and legends.
Basically, I read that we use all of our brain, but different parts for different functions or whatnot. And I have heard that if you lose part of your brain, the rest of it might adapt and pick up where the other part left off.

Evolution is a very slow process. Our methods of science, and recording past mistakes, have enabled us to craft better methods of immortality. Within a couple of decades we will be supplementing our brains and thought processes with hard drives and CPUs anyhow.

The 10% thing is a common myth. We do use 100% of our brains-- neurons that do not fire and "converse" with other neurons die out. The myth comes from the fact that at any given moment, we are only using about 10% of the brain at a time. Overall, the whole thing is used.

The 10% thing is so common it's even made it into some movies (ie "Flight of the Navigator") and books. Convenient sci-fi misinterpretation.

Also true. You would expect that people who have had brain damage from a stroke or physical injury, etc. would have some characteristics that are missing-- like going blind in one eye, deaf, etc., but the brain surprisingly adapts to a new neuronal configuration very easily. Of course, there are fewer neurons available, so function may be reduced, but generally most functions remain.

If youre interested in this sort of thing I have a really good book I would like to recommend. It's written in layman language, with virtually no medical terms, very easy and interesting.
