Default It's the seers interpretation

One must remember one's experience is the interpretation of one's observance. Meaning that you are the one calling the shots. Back in the days of my own experience with LSD, I began to realize that it was my own mind that control my hallucinations and that the drug was the catalysis which made this function possible. Life comes from with in us and we experience the universe (or life) that is about us. How we define these actions are actually the expressions of oneself.

When one sets back and gets high, they are the one who is doing the influencing using the drug as a catalysis. There are mystics who can do this without drugs but most do use them, as it has been done sens human history began. Remember the mystics are only human like you.

P.S.

This war on drugs is something very new in human history.

A caveat to this tho.....ones mind must be sufficiently advanced to accept the hallucinations and disseminate the meanings. The most important part of that is being advanced far enough to see the truth......

I agree with Ded. I would add that your best protection against having a really bad drug experience is to realize that it only looks bad right now and will eventually pass. What goes up must come down.

Good advice when high on 'lightweight' psychotropics like cannabis. I'd add mushrooms (psilocybin) too, in the context that quite often their use is via relatively small amounts. In these cases one has still got both feet on the ground - so to speak.

In the spirit of giving a heads up precaution "against having a really bad drug experience" -
When it comes to more serious tripping with drugs like Acid, I'd say don't go there until you give it serious thought and the respect it deserves. When embarked on a high impact acid trip, one is well beyond 'realizing that it only looks bad right now and will eventually pass': The course has been set.
Our restructuring begun, the Spirits will guide us where we need to go...

Under those circumstances you need an outside guide to remind you that what's going on is a temporary condition and will go away. I worked a drug hotline for several years back in the 70s when there was a lot of high-dose psychedelic use. What we discovered was that people who were having serious problems were those whose focus was turned inwards.

It's easy to get lost in the ever-changing labyrinths of the mind. External reality, while still pretty fluid, is much more stable than the inner landscape. After reminding our clients that what they were experiencing were temporary drug effects, we'd try to get them to stop running around in circles in their own minds and take a look at something, touch something, smell something, or taste something. Listening/talking with another person was useful. Listening to music was not - it left too much room for introspection.

There's nothing "wrong" with introspection unless you forget that there's more to life and more to the universe than the inside of your head. An existential crisis remains a crisis only as long as you feel compelled to keep thinking about it. Often, simply changing focus for a while and regaining some perspective will restore a person's balance. Trippers in trouble generally believe that their problems are conceptual when they're usually actually emotional.

When embarking on a serious psychedelic experience, a wise person has a sober "keeper", someone who understands these things, to serve as a lifeline back to consensus reality.

If you can say to yourself, "looks bad right now but this too shall pass....."

Seems like to me your doing just fine. Shift gears and hit the overdrive....

Hey ded, you lost me -
last time I bounced it was a sweet move to starboard
as I let my Dad take a big wave amidships as we rolled...
