i hav to say.. he has a good point in a very stupid kind of way. no offence sonic, but this is much too hypothetical, and imaginative, but this reminded me of a thread i started recently (over in cheap talk) about the chemistry of your brain, and if the chemical compound of your brain right now is indeed the best combination of chemicals to understand the universe. check it out:

The whole deal with the uncertainty principle is that basically to observe something, you need some kind of light. so by checking out some value, some energy of the very light you use to observe the object is absorbed into it.

so you can know almost exactly how big or where something is by using light with super small wavelength. this light will bounce off that object and then you can see it, and you know that it was somewhere within the lights wavelength. the smaller the wavelength, the more accurate you are.

the problem is that small wavelength light has a lot of energy, and a lot of that energy will go into whatever you're observing. this means you wont know its energy and then how fast its moving with small wavelengths. so if you use lower energy light with larger wavelengths, you can know how fast its going better than with shorter wavelengths.
but with longer wavelengths, you wont know were a particle is as well.

but the answer to you're question: if you measure a distance using light with a 4 foot wavelength, there will be a 4 foot uncertainty in the distance. but that would mean using radio waves. radio's for squaress

anyway here's a theory...
You current state of mind could be compared to looking at an apple. Now when you alter that state of mind, such as smoking weed, you turn your head to look at the apple from another point of view. Which is why some things may seem very clear when your stoned. It doesn't make you see "the truth", it just makes you look at it from another perspective, when as you know with the apple, can help you get a better grip on what the whole picture is.

String theory is pretty interesting, but has anyone looked into the actual underlying principles? It's almost like a group of scientists got together and said, "hey, there is a big part of my research that can't be explained. Let's make a blanket theory that validates my research", and then called it a day.
