I had to laugh. This morning, before I came here to see what was going on, I went to a restaurant for breakfast. When it came time to pay the bill, the senior citizen discount was automatically subtracted from my bill.

I'm cheap, I admit it. I haven't reached official senior status yet, but I accepted the discount. (My wife, by the way was not offered the same discount. Even though our age difference is minimal) She teased me about it on the way home.

When I got home, I came in here only to find I was again called a senior citizen.

The 1 thing that always kills me is...let's say the wife, son & I go to some store, they kinda saunter off in some direction & I'll be browsing around...then I'll see some nice-looking younger chick with a group of friends or something, the cutest 1 will come walking up to me (whole time I'm thinking..."hmm, this chick must think I'm pretty cool") & she'll turn to me & say, "Excuse me, gramps, you know what time it is?" yeah, real cool...man, what a drag for gramps!

I know exactly what you mean. I work with a lot of women, mostly younger women.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not lookin for any. But it would be really nice once in a while to not be considered "safe" to talk to.

I'm with you on that, ice...same thing here, I'm not looking for any chick to pick-up (hell, I got a wife, & 1 is plenty), but when some nice-lookin' young tomato actually holds the door open for the 'old timer', things have gotten bass-ackwards somewhere along the line...could it be that I'm almost 50?

I only just realized the other day how close 50 really is.

I was gettin up outta my chair and heard the same noises my father made when I thought he was old.

that's what I always say..."you know you're getting old when you start making the same noises as your old man!"...yes indeed, sounds very familiar...what is interesting, remember when you were about 25 thinking 50 was an eternity away? Yeah, well, I guess that point is somewhat moot!

Anticipation, is it always better than the event?

I sent my money out on a monday, the following monday was sent confirmation of the order and was told it would ship on Tuesday. That tells me that next tuesday I should receive my order.

So, do I work like crazy all this weekend getting things ready?

for some reason they had received the payment but didnt go through in their acc. books so they wouldnt send it to me...

I thought I'd try some northern lights. Although I prefer the cerebral high of sativa, my wife, who's never smoked wants to know what it's like. And knowing her, I think we'll try indica first. If she decides she likes that, then I'll see about white widow. I like the reviews i've read on it.
