| Could weed be used as a test for drug addiction potential? And if there is such a thing as a genetic disposition to drug addiction, does it mean you are meant to do drugs? |

| I'd say yes and no. If you can get mentally addicted to marijuana, you can probably become addicted(mentally and physically) to any substance(drug). Does that mean your destiny is to be a druggie? No, it means you should know your limits and the consequences of your actions.

| yeah man, weed to me, is the most addictive thing i do, but i could stop. out of all the off topics i've done, nothing compares to weed in the sense of wanting more and more afterwards. nothing else is really so appealing it's addictive to me. but that coca sure is close. ![]() |

Since marijuana itself isn't addictive, someone would go ape shit when smoking pot and probably get in over their head. However, genetic predisposition to addiction does not doom someone to drug use as soon as they shoot out the birth canal. Drug use is always a choice, at least the first time. Addiction may set in from the first use with harder drugs like meth, crack, cigarettes and some opiates. However, pot doesn't work that way.

| The only times I've seen pot appear to be really addicting, is when we're dealing with teens/young adults that have a mental issue (branches of autism, bipolar, the like) and they're trying to self-medicate. Pot is great at keeping these people stable from day to day, but if they overdo it, they're hiding from their disorder, and their disorder will hit them hard as soon as they cease to be stoned. I'd say for a recreational user, the risk of addiction is really low. A lot of people get kind of "dependant" on it, but it's barely what you would call addiction, because they only thing stopping these people from quitting is themselves.

| I've been through actual, physical addictions. And let me say there's no way pot can be that addicting, literally it's iompossible. But I'd say that quitting smoking weed or cutting back on how much one smokes can be REALLy, REALLy hard. Right now i'm cutting back from smoking literally all day every day for the last 3 years. The hardest thing is that smoking is something to do, and when you aren't getting high/are high you've got to find new shit to occupy the time. In my case I think it's a good thing because my only hobby was smoking pot, andnow that I'm not gettinghigh as much I'm having to find new/different hobbies and shit to do.

| I smoke everyday, almost always at night a couple hours before bed. I admit I am addicted to marijuana, maybe not in the physical sense, but I do look foward to it everyday. With that said, I am still productive. I exercise everyday-3days weight training, 3 days of cardio, with sundays off. I would say I am more addicted to exercise than marijuana though. I get worse withdrawels from now workinging out, than not smoking. If I don't work out I feel sapped of energy and lazy. I've been lifting regularly for the past three years, it's become a part of my normal existence, as smoking has. I like to keep a good balance of things, and most imporantly keep my body in good shape. And hey, it helps fight against the stoner stereotype. No one would ever guess I smoke marijuana from looking at me. |

| No ones addicted to Marijuanna. They just always want to re-live that high. Thats why people who say they want to quit don't. They really don't want to quit, they are just saying that. The blunt you smoke your weed in is probably more addictive than the weed itself. |

| It's probably a fair test to see is a person has an addictive personality, although it would be apparent long before a person took their first toke. Quote:
