you know, really if you think about it, it's not that unlikely, chemical warfare research will just go too far one day and find an escape to the people and will spread. that would be a pretty cool way for humans to die out.

If I were genuinely worried about a “zombie outbreak” I would stop playing Resident Evil and watching horror movies.

We're talking about getting a microbe of some kind to seize full control of a host body. Not just partial or influencing, but full control.

Coupled with the fact that this microbe would likely have to be transmitted via air (if it was like Rabies or by contact it would be quarantined easily) it seems astronomically unlikely.

I used to like watching zombie movies. But with the knowledge ive been coming across...I cant even enjoy em anymore. Not only is it unlikely to happen, its metaphysically impossible.

Too bad metaphysics isn't science, so you can't use it to qualify something as "metaphysically impossible."

Metaphysics is more philosophy, without making quantifiable measurements or using testable predictions. Its "field" rarely yields anything more than the occasional (false) claim of someone who can fly or float, purely with the power of his or her mind.
