| I was sitting there one day thinking about space, and how it has infinite bigness. then it occured to me that there also has to be infinite smallness. i dont know just a thought |

| Ack! Now that confuses me. I guess you can just keep getting smaller and smaller, smaller than atoms, electrons, strings, and whatever scientists find next. But... if there is absolute zero, is there an opposite? |

| the current, observable universe has been determined to have a width of 156 billion light years we can only possibly look or communicate up to the edge, or "horizon," of where light has traveled since the beginning of the universe. the size of the universe means the space in which we can interact with anything. we will never ever know what is "beyond" this boundary, because there is no way to know anything about it, so it's illogical to consider the realm "outside" of our universe, or to wonder what we are expanding "into."

| Yup, the concensus is that space is finite but unbounded: i.e. if you traveled far enough you'd end up were you started. Scientists also expect there to be a fundamental, irreducible 'building block' for everything.
