| I have been thinking about this for awhile. I can remember riding my bike to get everywhere when I was a kid. I also was a fairly good roller skater but my Swinn was my first real bike. I loved the sense of freedom it gave me. I filled up the car today, and after I payed for the gas, I didn't feel free. I feel like I'm being owned by the oil companies. How can they keep raising the gas prices and keep posting record profits? We are being owned by those bastards and nobody currently in power cares. There is a solution. Is there anyone here who hasn't ever had a bike? They don't take any gas. They can give you and your wallet a free ride and can be a lot of fun, too. I haven't been on a bike for awhile, (well, a long while), but I am thinking seriously about using it to cut my gas costs which I am sure every one knows about nowadays, and how it's hurting the economy. Maybe if I can talk mommy into it, a motorcycle. They get great gas mileage too, and they are a blast to go out on road trips. What do you all think? Is it a good idea to start thinking about bicycles and motorcycles and maybe even scooters to help with the oil prices? How much would the savings be? A lot of countries populace use bicycles and scooters as one of their main forms of transportation. Is that our future? I live in a rural area of Ohio and I've heard many people say they were going to sell their house and move closer to their work because of the high prices of gas. They just couldn't afford the commute anymore. Around here there are so many SUV's for sale that you can't sell one. It's almost to the point where their giving them away and still people aren't buying them. A twenty gallon tank on a vehicle takes eighty dollars almost to fill it up. Eighty dollars! On a minimum wage job you could be putting half your pay check in the tank ever month just to drive to work. Sure doesn't seem worth it to me...... Some Where In Ded Land................. ![]()
