To the OP, if you're mom wants you to stop smoking because it's slowing you down or making you forget about your future, then stop. If she's just misinformed, SHOW her you're planning for the future (college applications or job applications etc..). A friend of mine was anti-weed for years after he smoked when he was younger. During his last semester of high school he started smoking again and it started to make him less ambitious. His plan was to go to the same junior college as me and transfer after 2 years, this past semester (Sp08) ending would've marked the 2 year point and he has still to even apply to the JC. I'm not saying weed makes everyone less ambitious, nor am I saying it's bad, but you need to figure out if it really is for yourself, because if your parents are saying you're not planning for your future, it's because they haven't seen it and it's your job to show them that you are planning ahead. If you can't show them, then taking a weed break is what you need to do.

Why? Because its my fucking body and I'll do what I'd like to do to it. If I'm not affiliated with pot around their house, whats the big deal. They should just drop it and leave him alone, after all I'm pretty sure hes not dropped out yet and is probably making decent grades? Get a job bro thats the easiest thing man, you get to work and get away from the house, make your parents proud that you have a job, and get money at the end of the week to by some bud with. Maybe I just don't see what the big deal is?


PS: Make sure you do this DO NOT SMOKE IN THEIR HOUSE, DON'T ADMIT TO BEING HIGH, HIDE ALL OF YOUR SHIT BECAUSE THEY WILL SEARCH YOUR ROOM AND WILL FIND IT IF ITS NOT PROPERLY HIDDEN WHICH WILL CAUSE A SHIT TON OF PROBLEMS. The end.

They're his parents and it's their house that he is living in, until he can take care of himself physically and financially, it's their rules he should be following.
Smoking behind their backs will bite him in the ass cause they'll eventually find out, especially since they already know he smokes, and the lying portion will just piss them off far more then the disobeying part. It may be his body and his life, but he's in their house and he's a minor, which means legally they are responsible for everything he does so he should follow their guidance until he can legally take the blame for anything he does.

It seem like a lot of teenagers want all the privileges of adults without any of the responsibilities. I figured out that one when I was five. You can't be "independent" when you're still looking to Mommy and Daddy to provide all of the necessities of life, even if Mommy packs your little suitcase.

it's a big deal because in case you didn't know, it's hard as fuck to rent a house, pay bills, gas, clothes, and food when you're working at mcdonalds. trust me, i've fucking done it man, and mcdonald's is one example of the very limited options you'll have as an underage kid without a high school diploma and you left your parents house because you had a hissy fit over the fact that they didn't like you using marijuana.

not to mention that it's immature as fuck to think that when you live in your parents house and they grant you all of the above for free (food, shelter, clothing, etc) that you do not have to respect them or their home.

To the OP, life is not about smoking weed. Get your shit together, finish high school, go to college, graduate. Once you're out of college with a good enough job to support whatever it is you do, then start smoking weed again! Hell, I'd say you don't even have to quit smoking in order to do all those things, but some people can't handle responsibility and weed together.
