Why not nothern cali? southern oregon is nice, but i think you and your family would really enjoy Washington state, i lived in the Seattle area, and it was really peaceful, people were nice, nature was beautiful with basically a private beach(Puget Sound) about a mile from my house, i'd recommend a small town or area outside of Seattle or Olympia

The cost of living in California is too high for what it offers now IMO. Also Im pretty tired of all the restrictions on everything from car mods to firearms. Thats why N. CA is out.

Ive been there though and parts of it are beautiful. the people were indeed friendlier than here. We are just ready for a slower paced, friendlier place.

Washington is on our radar also. We just figured the weather might be a bit much for our candy asses

tupper lake, ny would give you the small town feel, low living costs, and relaxed laws that you want... its a town of only 4000! i used to live there, the people are nice and (i have no idea if this is a positive or not) its very easy to find bud there... oh, but the seasons are strange, it gets to like 80-90 degrees in the summer and -20 ish in the winter

If you want to come East, one of the best places to go for the kind of things you are describing is West Virginia. There is no medical weed though, but the cops are very far Away! You can easily get an acre or two there for much less than other states. You can grow a lot of weed outdoors in the summer and you shouldn't be affraid of prosecution. Some precautions, but it's so rural that I don't know how you would get caught....

West Virginia needs more credit. There are so many normal people living there. I really get upset when people think that they're hillbilllies or something.

West Virginia is perfect. You have really long, meandering roads through the woods and the mountains. A lot of houses are far apart, but they're still in neighborhoods. You could set up near Morgantown, or Shepherdstown, they have good town centers to get anything you'd need. Plus, you're only about an hour and a half from Baltimore, DC, and about 2 hours from the beach.

Shepherdstown, by the way, is a very wholesome place to raise children. There's a group of Amish who live nearby, there's a small town liberal arts college....

You have a lot of rivers and lakes, and the best thing about them is that most of them are unpolluted. I would never drink from the Potomac here in Maryland, but I was sucking that freshwater down in West Virginia! (note: This isn't the most healthy thing. You need to be "used" to an area's bacteria)

now that i think about it their is a great place in Oregon on the coast that i believe is still fairly affordable great people plenty of thing to do, if you ride quads or dirtbikes, and all around one of my favorite places, Florence Oregon, of course since it is right on the beach the houses will cost slightly more but worth it in my opinion

Oregon sounds pretty sweet. Although I am awhile away from getting my own place I have been looking at different areas that would be a good place to live when I am getting my own place. I just need to get out of PA.

Well, there is always Alaska.

You could get a plot of land relatively cheap or even buy a really nice home in a great neighborhood with that much money. Firing weapons and using ATVs are commonplace in my neighborhood, lol.

The price of living is probably the same, plus we get about a thousand+ dollars a year just for living here. Job opportunities are crazy, Alaska, especially the capital city where I live is undergoing massive construction

Oh yeah, Medical marijuana is legal but we don't have dispensaries -- no worries though, the quality here is nothing to complain about, check the Sack of the Months if you don't believe me

I live in Utah and it is Gorgeous!!! Everyone here is very nice and accepting. I live in northern utah in American Fork. Utah is a great place to rase your kids.
