Hey gang My wife and I are both native southern Californians that are ready for a change. We are looking for a slower paced, friendlier, down-home type place to raise our children. Cali is great but we are ready for a change of pace. We'd be looking to buy a 4+ bed home with atleast an acre of land for $150-230K, We're looking for a rural'ish enviroment and distant nieghbors but within an hours drive of everything needed. Basically lots of room to play and privacy to enjoy it. We want to offroad on our own property and maybe fire weapons. A lower cost of living than CA is a must. A medical MJ program would be great also as I am a cannabis care patient. I was hoping to get you folks impressions of where we might want to look to find living like this. We havent traveled the states to much so we really dont know where to start. All we know is we want better for our kids and a more wholesome enviroment for us all. Thanks for any input about places, good or bad. 'Toke

Columbus Nebraska, very affordable, not sure if you would want to live their thought its a very small town, try Lincoln Nebraska, you could get a very nice home for cheap and plenty of land with it, also very close to everything, and friendly people, horrible pot out their but im sure you could find someone who has something beside brick, unfortunately their is not a medical marijuana law out their so thats a major down side but another option would be to look up north to Oregon or Washington

If you don't mind rain 9 months out of the year, and very little sunshine...southern Oregon is a nice place to live! ![]() We lived in a little town about a half hour from the beach, that I often compared to Mayberry! We rented a small one bedroom house for $375 a month...and the pot laws are very liberal! ![]()

| if your up for anything when it comes to weather, try Minnesota. It's good here. If you wanna find a good place to live as far as jobs and cost, ever heard of the beige book? Don't know if your into economics and such, but it's a great place to find any information regarding area's before moving. FRB: Beige Book--Minneapolis--January 16, 2008 the link is for the 9th district ( FRB: Federal Reserve Districts and Banks - if you don't know what districts involve what places). Good luck with the search.

Some great input so far, thanks everyone. Weather - thats the big potential change it seems Being native to CA we've been very spoiled. I dont think we want anything too extreme but 4 seasons would be nice.If the people are nice, cost of living is low and the laws are relaxed..we want to check into it

Oregon.... In my area a 4 bedroom goes for 200-300k, depending on how new it is and the size of the property. I was born in california as well, so i get where you're coming from... Don't expect much of our beaches though...

I would say around the PA area because there are tons of areas such as farmland, etc that give you the large amount of space you are looking for and at an affordable price. But we do not have MMJ at the moment. Bummer.
