Ok, so its tyhe 4th, and not a single post about blowing stuff up??? What up with that So, are you more the kind to buy your own, or watch the pros do it? How much, on average, do you spend on fireworks if you do your own, and what arte your favorite kind?

Me, I'm all about the artillary shells. I love fireworks of all kinds though. Every year, I tell myself I'm not going to go overboard, and attempt to set a $100 limit for myself....and yet, every year, my wife and I end up with closer to 2x that!!! This year, we bought wo assortments....one of just "big" things (ariel shells) and another of all kinds. The bigger ones will be set off with my friends tomorrow night, and the other box is for the 5th....my nephews (6 and 9) love fireworks, espically when I'm the one lighting them. Last year, I let them down because I was deathly ill over the holiday, so I'm going to make up for it this year! I uhave a feeling they'll like the stuff I bought

Here in Juneau your not allowed to buy your own fireworks.

People smuggle them in and sometimes my friends acquire some, but it's not too often.

However, our town puts on a GREAT fireworks show ever year. The entire Down town district turns into a literal block party, people drinking in public, partying, whoopin' it up and lighting off (illegal) fireworks. At midnight a gigantic barge floats into the middle of the channel, between Douglas Island and Downtown Juneau and lights off an extraordinary show. It usually lasts about half an hour.

In fact, I'm loading up the bong and crackin' open a Red Hook Black Hook Porter right now after watching them...

That's great about your nephews loving fireworks. As a kid I loved them too, but I never had an Uncle who would buy me them! I had to save up quarters and nickels weeks in advance to buy them on the Indian reservation

My budget doesn't really include fireworks this year. I have a bunch of leftover thunder flashes though. 2 in a beer bottle will explode it so they're kinda cool i guess.

Nothing beats going out to the res and watching the fireworks wars. Not the professional ones either, the ones where people buy there own and eventually end up shooting them at each other. Oh yeah, mortar rounds are way cooler when you don't light them in the tube. I always make it a point to buy the biggest damn cigar I can find and walk around the "battlefield" like a general. Also makes a good fuse lighter.

And I believe it was the wise sage, Homer Simpson, who said:
"What better way to celebrate America than blowing a piece of it up."

Oh yeah, we've ddone all kinds of crazy shit with the artillary shells (minus the launching tube). They're are impressive on the ground, and even more impressive tossed into a body of water!!! L:ast year, We were attempting to set off several (with the tubes) at once, when a couple tipped, launching it DIRECTLY atr my wife, me and my best friend. it literally blew up at our feet, and the concussion blast was quite distinct when it went off THAT close!!

Another year, we rigged up a frozen chicken with explosives (can't mention exacty what was used, but it involved the type of fireworks most people don't mind letting their children use, and some duct tape).....we stuffed the explosives in the chicken's body, lit our stuff, and floated the chicken out towards the middle of the lake inside a styrofoam cooler.....It went BOOOOM!!!! and the fish we're presented with a million little chicken nuggets!!!! Environmentally friendly...hell no....but it was FUN!!!!!!! If you've never seen a frozen chicken disintigrate from an explosion, you just haven't lived!!!

Yeah, my nephews are pretty cool....sometimes they lookand act like mini-me's, which is kinda scary. But I feel obligated to be the cool uncle. They worship the ground I walk on, and I really don't know if I could love even my own children (IF i ever have any) more than I love those two kids! I have to remind myself that I'm around kids and not my stoner buddies when lighting fireworks though.....safety is much more paramount when they are around then when its just me and my friends fuckin' around!

I could just buy some Seal bombs, quarter sticks of Dynamite used by commercial fishermen to scare of seals who eat their catch.

I have scribs. Thats about it. Fireworks are illegal here otherwise. Plus the houses are to close to set them off.

I'm not having any fireworks this year personally. We ran out of our "holy fuck thats a lot of fireworks" supply a couple years ago , and that was a such a setback on money I'll never go to a firework warehouse like that again lol. We might've went to see some fireworks but a family member was in the hospital, and pretty much bed ridden for the next few days, so we'll just bbq at his home with no wild explosions
