If anyone of you guys surf, you will understand the following, if you don't, then, you probably won't. Let's just say it was better than weed can ever be.

I haven't been able to surf much the past month, but today I had the best session of my life, lets just say perfect hollow barrelling thick offshore 3-4ft waves, with huge walls to rip to shreds, with a perfect sunset shining like nothing I have ever seen before in my life, shining through the waves making them look like emeralds (and emerald green is my favourite colour since I saw that the first time, only a surfer would know what I am talking about). I paddled out, and my on my first wave I did the best turn of my life, then a little later a school of dolphins showed up, and I have a tendancy to paddle out to the dolphins and sit there while they pass me. There was dolphins EVERYWHERE, and already this was the best sesh of my life. Later I caught another wave, and again I did the best turn ever, even better than the last (now remember, I haven't surfed in a month, so this is pretty surprising.) All in all I only caught 3 waves, but on each of them I surprised myself on how good I was performing, since I never performed this good. Even though I only caught 3 waves, it was without a doubt the best 3 waves of my life.

Closest Ive been to surfing is wake boarding, but one day I will try it. Sounds like you had a good time man.

You really have to try it, there is nothing on this planet that compares, just wait till you get your first barrel, you will feel like you just combined every drug on this planet! It is even better than the best sex you will ever have.

have you had sex before? If you have, there is no way you can say this.

I mean I play hockey and snowboard, two things I love, but if I had my choice between hockey, snowboarding, and a female, well, I'm going with the girl.

but on topic, sounds pretty sick. I've never had the chance to surf, but I have wake-boarded, water-skied, and skim boarded before. I intend to try it one day though.

You still do not understand how good it is, sure I had my loves before, like skating and mountain climbing, but you do not understand the connection with all that is that you get from surfing. Before that you do not understand the power of nature. And the best type of surfing is big wave surfing, there is nothing that compares. I can remember my first 8ft wave, (8ft from the back, 16ft on the face.) and since then, I understand the power of nature. The closest thing I can think of, is snowboarding down a mountain that is pushing you (you are not sliding, it is pushing you.) with a avalanche coming at you from behind. I must admit I am a virgin, but ask ANY big wave surfer, he will tell you, sex sucks in comparison. I am not saying just surfing, but I am saying a big wave barrel.

Fair enough, I guess ironically I was being hypocritical by knocking something before I tried it, which I was criticizing you on.

I just don't think sex, when it's with a girl you care about and its the first time after months of dating, can not be beat. Emotionally even more so than physically.

And anything at its peak, such as big wave surfing, a championship hockey game, etc. is better than something at its average. But I'll have to try surfing; I've had offers for school to go to Hawaii, something I have considered, but I'd have to give up hockey, so I probably will be rejecting that.

I'm going to have to side with Merry-Juana with this one.

I mean, yes, you shouldn't say something is better than sex unless you've had sex... but likewise, you shouldn't say something is better than surfing unless you have surfed.

Surfing is an amazing experience. When you catch that perfect wave, the beauty of the water combined with the natural (yet completely unnatural) act of riding the wave is second to none.

I haven't quite caught that "better-than-sex" wave yet... but I do not doubt they exist.

Ok, Hawaii's waves are good, but it is totally crowded, you can not pay me to go surf Hawaii, I'd be beaten up in two seconds. (Localism, the lowest of the low in surfing.)
If you live near the ocean, just surf there, do not give up hokey or anything to go to Hawaii, you'd be disappointed since for a non local who moved there to become a local, you have to go through initiation, which consists of taking off on a 6ft+ wave at pipe, 8ft+ wave at Waiiamea, and all kinds of rituals other than that. It is not easy, and if you are new to it, it is impossible. (A Hawaiian 6ft wave is measured at the back, meaning the actual face size is about 12ft, twice your own size, and at a heavy break like pipe, it is a killer to an average surfer.)
Most surf spots have a sort of initiation before you can be considered a local(unless you lived there for most of your life.), most of the time it is just surfing there often (more than twice a week.) for a year or so, but at Hawaii, it is a different story, and if you are non-local, you can not even go in if it is a good day, unless you want to be beaten up.

That's not entirely true. Bruddahs are only dicks you attempt to be one of them. If you have some goal to become a Bruddah, then yes, you have to impress them... otherwise, if you just be yourself and not act like a poser, Bruddahs are very friendly.
