Plus the fact that you cant clean those kinds of piercings with just water and soap or or peroxide (it dries out the skin cells and messes up the healing process), you need a special solution. I got my lip pierced a month ago and the guy gave me sea salt and a whole packet of instructions on what to do. Those guys know what they're doing and have been doing it for a long time, usually. I would definately rather pay 50 bucks for a safe piercing than risking the infection or risking my lil sis screwing up.
If you do end up having your sister pierce your eyebrow, make sure to pick up some 'Ear Care' solution. I know it says 'EAR care' but this is the solution that you receiver after getting your ears pierced which keeps the infection away.

my only advice, is don't do it. go to a piercer who knows what they're doing.

1. alcohol and fire will NOT properly sterilize the tools being used. they need to be autoclaved (sent through heat and pressure made to sterilize metal tools. autoclaves are the machines that doctors and surgeons use to sterilize their equipment).

2. 14-gauge is far too big for a surface piercing like an eyebrow to start out with, as your change of the piercing rejecting will be higher. most piercers would recommend 16-guage CBRs.

3. if you've SEEN your sister fuck up someone elses piercing, why in the hell are you letting her poke a hole in your head??

WRONG and DANGEROUS information. ear-care solution is NOT suitable for piercings, they will dry out the skin and can lead to infection or keliods, not to mention that it kills the GOOD bacteria that aids in healing, so the healing time is prolonged. the only aftercare that piercings need are salt-water soaks to keep lymph at bay (the crusties) and the occasional wash with dial antibacterial soap (every other day or so, as it can dry the piercing out as well).

Sorry to bring back this thread but I just saw the reply. And if it is so dangerous how come they gave it to me? I used it for the required month and not one single case of an infection, pain or inflammation. No irritability whatsoever.

Because I assume you got your piercing done at a mall booth or something similar? Any professional piercist would not recomend any of that ear care crap. Sea salt and warm water is really the best and only treatment you should use.

And to everyone who compared a mall booth to a profesional piercing studio.... just no

That really doesnt prove your point at all. Just because your ear didnt get infected, doesnt mean that the product helped, or that it should be used on an eyebrow (surface piercing) which is much more likely to reject of become infected.

Ear skin, is completely different compared to bare eyebrow skin. You also have to be aware of veins on certain points on the face.

As a tattoo artist I really hope you don't go through with it. There are many things that can go wrong. Not to mention, you will have this piercing, hopefully for awhile. People around you, and yourself will have to look at your face everyday. It could be slightly off center, and make you incredibly frustrated. Of course, the transfer of bloodbourne pathogens can seriously effect you for the rest of your life. I have seen countless friends with infected piercings. And that shit ain't cool. Piercers are professionals. They get paid mostly to give you something you will cherish, with very small risks of infection with a perfectly placed piercing. Man up, pay the money, and get a good piercing. Actually going to a shop is a much better experience than a shaky hand friend trying to pierce tough skin without jamming it in multiple times.

...Just my two cents.
