Default Off to Alaska...

Well, only days before Gustav is supposed to hit I'm fleeing to the great white north... tomorrow I'll be on the way to my first medical marijuana state and I can't even begin to explain how excited I am to be able to grow "legally"! If anyone of you has ever been to Alaska you already know how beautiful it is, and it has the tallest mountain in the world (from base to summit it's taller than Everest) so those of you like myself who enjoy mountain climbing might even be interested in attempting Denali or many of the smaller mountains in the area. Hell, just in Anchorage there are tons of mountains to climb! So, if anyone is up for some kayaking/hiking/what not and you live near Anch, get with me! Also, if anyone can teach me how to ski/snowboard... I'll love you forever.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you are literally moving away for good.
Or are you just planning on waiting out hurricane season?

Have fun. It's really beautiful there.. I've never been but I've seen some of SpiralArchitect's pictures. Don't get too baked before you go skiing

Yes I've moved away for good, I'm now in Anchorage, arrived at 6PM AKDT. It is amazing, I can sit out on my balcony and look at the mountains... something I've always wanted to do. I don't think I'll ever go back to the lower 48.

So wait... have you been planning this for a while and it just so happens you got out prior to this hurricane... or are you super-amazing-impulsive and decided to change your entire life in the recent days?

Edit: "Impulsive" may be a bad word to use... I didn't mean it in a bad way... I meant it in an admiration way... like... I'm impressed you could do that. I over-think things too much to be able to do such a thing =P

You could have done that in the lower 48. There are mountains in the lower 48 also.

Hehe, yes I am an impulsive person especially when making life changing decisions. The move up here was thought about 4-5 weeks ago. Really though it had to do with having family members move here recently that sealed it for me.

I admire your spontaneity. Alaska is next up on my places to visit list...but I don't really have a list.
