| At least with the microchip you have some history as far as age and lineage, medical history, etc... with the one dog. It should make it a bit easier to find a new home. |

If we can't find their owners, we decided that we will be their foster parents, through the Aussie rescue agency. They will live with us until they are adopted, and the rescue agency will pay for all their Vet care and food. I have enough knowledge that I can do a lot without having to make a trip to the Veterinarian. Maybe the owners will see the ad in the paper, hopefully.

| Could be that the owner just moved to FL recently and hasn't updated the info on the microchip yet. My dog has a chip, and I think it might still have the address from another house we lived in a couple years ago when we first got her. |

| If the information is outdated, and never updated, why even bother getting a microchip in the first place? I'm not asking anyone in particular, I'm just frustrated. I know it costs very little to register with the chip company, and it's free to update information. Dogs cannot get back to their owners if the information is incorrect. |

| Great looking dogs, I bet they'll have no problem finding a home if the owners don't show.

| The dogs just left with their owner! I am so happy. ![]() ![]() They had also put an ad in the paper too. We each saw each others ad, but I called them first, at 7AM this morning. Apparently, Red (the dog we were calling Brownie) likes to dig under their fence, and he did that on Sunday night. Both him and Blue escaped, and made their way to our neighborhood, 3.5 miles away. She didn't explain to us why she hadn't registered the microchip with AVID, and I didn't pry, but maybe this incident will scare them into doing it. I hope so. I asked her the story about the dogs after I explained that we tried to find them via the chip. They used to live in California, about 2 years ago. They found Blue as a stray out there. They ended up moving here to Florida, and brought Blue with them. Last year, they took Red from another owner who no longer wanted him, here in Florida. She appreciated what we did so much, that she insisted that we take $60.00 for our trouble. I said no, more than once, but she was persistant, so I gave in. We didn't want any money, and we didn't ask for a reward in the paper, or anywhere else, so this was unexpected, but we sure can use it. ![]() I have been so depressed lately, but now that this turned out to be a happy ending, it lifts my spirits some. I do kinda miss them, though....I'll go post this in the bookie thread also. ![]() Last edited by Vicki : 09-05-2008 at 03:45 PM. |

| Yay. I'm glad you found their owners. It's always horrible when you lose a pet, but it feels so good when you find them again. I remember when my german shepherd ran away about a year ago. The police tried catching up(no tag, YIKES!) but he got away, and someone who lived near the police station took him in one morning when he was really scared and shaking. When I asked asked the police if they've seen him, they told me the story of trying to catch him, and then about someone who found a stray german shepherd that he was taking care of. Luckily, I was able to get a hold of the guy, and he was very happy to return the dog . They said he was a great dog. I felt a little bad because I could tell him and his little daughters were falling in love with him. I told them they can come visit him anytime they want, and they don't back down on the offer lol. They've shown up a few times already just wanting to see him. Kinda went into my own story there, but maybe you can visit them sometime if you ever miss em . The important thing is that they have their home again! ![]()

| Yay, happy ending! I'm really glad you were able to find their owners and reunite the two. Having a pet go stray is a terrible experience, especially if you never find it, because you not only always fear the worst, but many times people feel like they didn't do enough to protect the animal or enough to find it (which is sometimes true and sometimes not). I remember a lost cat we found at least a decade ago, before chips were really out there. I'm sure I've gone into the story elsewhere, but what's important is just so happy the owners were when they were reunited with there cat, in tears of joy because they thought their baby was dead (the cat was less than a year old, and we have fishercats hanging around up here, as well as other potential predators). You get a really good feeling when you reunite a pet with it's people, though... you get the feeling that in your own way, you've helped bring back light into their lives. You done good, Vicki. K+! EDIT- Dammit, gotta spread rep around first. I'll be back.

| I wish we could visit them, and I still have their phone number, but I doubt it will happen. I don't want to bother them, unless my daughter says she misses them. ![]() |
