NO, do not do that. Incense, maybe, but NOT a cigarette.

I say this because the one time that got set off was when we were blazing in our dorm room and a friend asked if he could light a cig. The combination set off the fire alarm for the whole building from the detector.

I've blazed multiple times in dorm rooms. Unless you're running more than one blunt at a time or aiming to hotbox your room, you shouldn't have anything to worry about...from the smoke detector, anyway.

I have smoked multiple blunts right under a smoke detector every day for months and never once set it off. Cigarettes are a different story though, i have set off smoke alarms from cigs. I dont know what the difference is, but i guess there is some.

Just blow the smoke away from the detector and you dont have much to worry about, i would be much more concerned about letting the smell leak out than setting off a smoke alarm

Lightbulb Try this..

If you are unsure of your smoke detectors sensitivity, try this:

I once had a plumber come over to my house to perform repairs which involved brazing. The plumber couldnt disconnect my s/d from the ceiling, so he took a rubber latex glove (identical to the ones hospital personnel use) and stretched it over the entire housing of the s/d. It was a nice tight fit, and the tactic worked for sure as his brazing work did produce lots of smoke.

Ahahaha..true..except with me its happened with cookies.

On a similar note, when visiting my friends new apartment, we smoked it down. While cooking some ramen noodles we hand't relaized that some egg from a previous stoned food prep had slipped under the eye. Went to chill waiting for the water to boil and the egg started to smoke. That combined with my genius friend trying to blow smoke rings while standing right under the detector set it off.
