| My grandfather is a recovering type II diabetic. This means he got diabetes on account of being overweight and not watching his appetite, and now no longer has it. Yet the diabetes has given him a plethora of ailments, particularly chronic pain in the feet. He has trouble sleeping because of the pain. Additionally he is on a number of medications... I think Medical Marijuana may help him... a really heavy indica for the pain and to help him relax... but he's completely against marijuana (grew up in the reefer madness). I have a vaporizer and some Chamomile herbs... I'm wondering if I should mix some bud in with some chamomile and have him vape it (under the impression that its just the tea) and see if he feels better... It's just that these fucking medications do nothing for him and he sits and whines all night about the pain. I am beginning to wonder if I should throw ethics out the window and just get him high so he'll feel better, even if he doesn't know about it. Ugh... He's even moved out of his bedroom and into the living room where the SAT TV, sound system and XBOX are, and he goes to bed very early, leaving my roommate and I with nothing FREE to do at night (we are busy all day).

| It's a nice gesture, but sneaking marijuana on him is the wrong way to go about it. Perhaps present him with some documentation proving medical marijuana is useful in easing the pains he experiences?

| spend a few evenings reading up on the marijuna literature, make sure to cover your self and use lots of information from RELIABLE sources. A few places that helped me were: -!!!!!http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/!!!!! -!!!!!!! Granny's links to cannabis/health-related abstracts !!!!!!! 1!!!!-Erowid Cannabis Vault : Exposing Marijuana Myths !!!!! -Research - NORML Mj toxicity (good graph)toxicity.jpg -BBC NEWS | Health | Marijuana may block Alzheimer's and ones possibly related to your situation are: BBSNews - Marijuana Component Slows Diabetes in Study Go to the google and submit your evidence to him, I'd imagine he'd be happier with that than "Surprise! I gave you an illegal drug without your consent!" But please be aware of sources and look deeper into them and read the actual studies rather than draw conclusions from another persons summary. Don't be a sheep! P.s. I sincerely apologize for the formatting, I'm fried out of my mind right now. Last edited by RuskyNail : 10-19-2008 at 06:42 AM. |

| I bet your granddad is just the same as my dad. My dad is the most southern, conservative, strict, kind of guy there is. The kind of "Its my way or the highway" kind of guy. And he is firmly against weed, despite him being one of the biggest hippies ever when he was younger. And if getting your granddad to smoke would be anything like getting my dad to smoke, then I feel your pain. If he was in so much pain, and after many efforts of trying to reason with him he still refused and still complained about the pain, I may sneak just a tad bit in there. |

| Actually no, he's one of the most frustratedly liberal people out there... he's a major reason I believe a lot of the liberal things I do, especially about marijuana... The problem is he was brainwashed so long ago, it's sunk in. He's a hard headed guy, he won't accept change. That's the conservative part of him. Rusky that post was awesome, the granny link is so useful! There's a shitload of information in that link. Damn though I really need to think of a way to convince him. I think he'd benefit tremendously from MMJ. |
