Well my parents made me go to this therapist thing because ive been down in the dumps lately (only because I havnt smoked in a few days :P).

But this therapist I went to was FLAT OUT RUDE. I told her I smoked marijuana and that it helped me with depression. She looked at my parents and said "so long has your son been a heavy drug user?".

I almost knocked the bitch the fuck out....heavy drug user? I tried explaining to her that I only smoke marijuana and that it's the only thing that keeps me from going insane on a regular basis (not literally, just it helps with my mood swings). I also told her about medical marijuana and about propostion 215 (medical marijuana use in california) and she pretty much straight up said that there is no medical marijuana use in america and that I should get my facts straight.

AGHHH SHES SO IGGNORANT!!!!!!!!!!!

She is obviously completely ignorant, or she is just in denial. I go for the second option. All you need is proof to show her, and your parents, that medical marijuana is in fact real. Your therapist already knows this, but she wouldn't make any money if she admitted it, and she couldn't push her RX drugs.

Uh... Doctors prescribe drugs. They don't sell drugs. How would recommending marijuana affect her bottom line?

I never said they "sold" RX drugs. I said they "push" RX drugs, which they do. It also seems they like to push the drugs that the drug reps bring into their office too.

Most doctors refuse to admit that marijuana has any therapeutic affect at all. Some doctors even feel like it is bad to recommend medical marijuana.

His doctor is probably not making a kick-back for prescribing certain drugs, but I know most doctors would rather prescribe RX drugs than medical marijuana. In non medical marijuana states, it's even worse.

Vicki is right, drug companies even take doctors & pharmacists out to dinner as more of an incentive to push their drug over another. Sad, but true.

dude if i were you, i would be just as rude to her as she was to me. Tell her that if she wants to tell you that your wrong, she needs to back it up, and not just by saying "I have a p.h.d" or whatever, but by hardcore evidence. or you could tell your parents you dont refuse to go to see a theripist, but you refuse to see this bitch.

Therapists are a pain in the ass sometimes.
My last one, liked to whip out pictures of thermographied brains to show me how much "brain damage" the weed was doing. Yep, it was complete b.s., but these people are trained to think that any use of substances licit or illicit constitutes some kind of problem.
She's not getting any pharma money, due to the fact that she isn't a Psychiatrist.
That in mind, it's probably better to try out another "The-Rapist" and see if they'll be a little more understanding.

Like Vicki said, just bring proof. Start a debate in which you can sufficiently provide enough evidence to prove your points about marijuana; when she fails to provide any evidence that proves marijuana to be efficiently negative to your health, your parents will be the viewers of the debate and will hopefully have their eyes opened.

If this isn't a legal requirement to be in therapy you can gladly walk out the door like she isn't even talking to you. But if you have been down in the dumps lately due to not smoking, you need to find something to do that makes you happy that isn't marijuana. It sounds like you could be becoming dependent and that is no good...

I have a friend that works in a doctors office. They told me that at one time the doctor was getting awarded with bonuses and got treated good by the drug companies for pushing the drugs onto patients. They told me that the government started cracking down on it or somethin but it probably still goes on with drug companies and doctors. From what I was told the doctor got treated special because they were helping to move the products. I see that someone on here talked about dinner. I was also told that a limo was sent to the doctor to bring him out to dinner and my friend was there to witness it. I'm not saying that prescription drugs don't help people or that doctors are giving people drugs when they don't need them but they do help the drug companies move those drugs. The way doctors get treated by the drug companies I could see that as encouraging a doctor to push drugs onto patients.
