Well guys I finally got busted. But instead of fighting it i heard all of you regular posters in my head saying no be mature. So I talked with my mom but she is being overly judgmental. My dad says we have to talk and he is a stoner too but he is a hypocrite. Not really complaining, just needed to vent a little. Hopefully things turn out good.

Ofcourse they will. No parent would do anything bad to their kid if they caught him with weed. The worst it can get is getting grounded for X amount of time (until they aren't as shocked anymore) and they'll say to never smoke again, which is what my parents said about ciggarettes, but I still smoked them for a while before quitting.

Yeah I wouldn't worry, especially if your Dad's a stoner. Give them time to wrap their heads around it and chill out a little; just be patient, they'll come around

I don't know how old you are but your dad being a stoner is probably thinking that if your a minor you shouldn't be smoking pot and hes going to act like a parent might act if they find out their kid is drinking alcohol. Alcohol is legal for people 21 and older but pot is illegal under federal law.

when i was in high school my parents gave me as much freedom and space as i wanted as long as i got good grades.
so if you already are an A-B student, just let them know, "hey, as long as i am succeeding in life, and be safe with whatever i do, whats the problem with relieving stress, relaxing, and kicking back with a blunt?"
then they pull out the "its illegal card" and u just gotta voice your opinion on the matter.

sorry to hear about that bro. i too live at home but i haven't been caught yet. my dad also smokes, so hopefully when i feel ready to talk to them about it they'll be cool with it.

just wait it out for a while before this whole thing blows over. if you try and smoke while tensions are still high, not only will the high not be worth it but you could also start getting into the habit of smoking whenever problems arise.

so just wait it out and look forward to that next toke session

When I started reading this, I thought you were talking about getting busted by the cops. Now that would be something awful.

Someday when you're older, you'll realize there are a lot worse things in life than getting "busted" by your parents.

Well thanks for the support everyone. My mom hasn't brought it up again but she has told me I lost her trust which to me was a given. To me that is pretty much worse then getting grounded for X amount of time. My dad has not said a single thing about it. He gave me a ride to work Saturday morning and never mentioned it. I hope that this does not make these next few months hell. I start culinary school in January so I'm hoping to move out but the school doesn't have dorms and the apartments in the area are out of my price range unless i split a 2 room apartment with 3 other people. I wanna move out so I don't have another incident like this.


so any thoughts or advice on anything please feel free to share. Believe me I will pay attention to it.

After all you've said, all I really have to tell you is:

Don't use Culinary school as an escape from a real degree. Unless, that is, you actually PLAN on working as a chef anywhere other than Denny's. Ultimately that's where you're gonna end up if you're not careful with it. Also, that line of work is incredibly easy to start slacking on, so just watch yourself. Smoking weed all the time MAY make that harder.

Hmmm, if they don't say anything about it then definitely don't let yourself get caught again, otherwise they might go ape.

How did they catch you? Do they know how often/how much you smoked?
