Default tattoo idea...

So im thinking of getting a tattoo. I was thinking a cross on my arm, with like nails, and a scribe to say something like "RIP HMH" which is my grandfather. Any suggestions on the idea? Not wanting to spend to to much on it, but really wanting to get one. Here is something that i fount that i really liked...heres my questions:

1. What you think?

2. How much you think it will cost?

3. Once secession, or two?

What do I think?

You should figure out if you actually want a tattoo like that, instead of asking us.

Depending on how big and how much detail you want, the price will vary, especially depending on where you go to get the tat.

And I think you meant 'section', again, this is a decision you need to make. Not us.

I hate when people get typical tattoos like crosses and dragons and tribal tattoos and shit like that. If want a tattoo to honor your grandfather think of something he really liked or something you guys had in a common or like to do together. Be original and it will mean a lot more and everyone will think your tattoo is cooler than that stupid kid who got a tribal tattoo or rose or a skull or something. God I hate tribal tattoos...

Yes, it is cliche and "standard", but those types of tattoos are that way for a reason, if that's what he chooses to get, then he shouldn't let anyone's opinion stop him or convince him what to do.

I personally think that you should research what you want to get done, research the parlor you want to go to, and then the tattoo you want to get. More times than not, the tattoo artist is the most important part of the equasion. Make sure he or she is the right guy/girl to put a set of needles in your body to permanently mark yourself for life.

I'd say go for it, get the tattoo how you want it and where you want it, but only after you're sure that you actually want it, and you do your research on the artist that is going to be doing your tattoo.

only you can determine whether you like it or not, but i would guess a tattoo that size with all the shading would be around $200-$275 and you could knock it out in one session

I agree, it is a little cliche, but I think you should get whatever it is that you want.

The best advice anyone ever gave me concerning tattoos was this: take the picture of whatever it is you want and put it in a place where you will see it every day for at least six months. Tape it to your mirror, your fridge, wherever. If, after six months, you still like the way it looks and still want it - then get it.

Six months seems like a long time but since a tattoo lasts forever there shouldn't be any need to rush, right? After six months of looking at the same picture over and over again and seeing it every day, you should have a pretty good idea of whether you're going to love it forever or eventually think it is hideous/stupid/whatever. Plus, within six months, you'll notice any flaws in it and/or decide if there are certain elements of the tattoo you might want to edit before putting it on your body for good.

I've gone through tons of phases concerning tattoos I thought I was going to love forever. But then, after a while of looking at the same picture over and over again, I've come to realize that I didn't like them as much as I thought I did at first. It's a good thing I waited to get them, because at this point, I'd probably have a lot of really stupid looking tattoos that I'd wish I didn't have.

Just remember that tattoos last forever and that you should take as long as you need to decide on the perfect design for you before putting it permanently on your body. Take your time and get something you know you're going to love forever - it will be worth the wait.

Edit: As to the cost...I have no idea so I can't quote you a price like others have. But, don't try to save money by going to a cheap tattoo parlor or changing the design you want to something that's going to cost less. It's your body, it's your skin, you are going to have this tattoo forever. Spending a little extra money on something that is going to be exactly what you want is going to be worth it in the long run. You'll regret ever getting the tattoo if you decide to be cheap and get something that's not perfect - plus, you could spend way more in the future trying to get it corrected by a better artist.
