Why are you going to court? Just pay the fine and be done with it.

$244 is an awful lot for speeding, how far over the limit were you? You couldn't be more than 10 - 15 over if your were doing 80 on a freeway. Also, a seat belt violation is only a $20 ticket here.

Total price here would be around $40 - $45 and no points.

i was doing 80 in a 65. i wish the fines here were less, 20 bucks! please! but florida is an expensive state to live in last 2 times i went one cop didnt show and the other "wasnt ready to proceed" ya know..just piling on the OT...but seriously in the state of our economy, he would have to be heartless to make a young citizen int ehir 20s pay such incredible fines. he seemed like a real nice guy so im kinda optimistic. but that doesnt say anything last year i was doing 90 in the same area and the HP lady was MEAN she was yelling at me she pinned 4 tickets on me..speeding, aggressive.tints, no proof of insurance..totalled to a lot of cash..just the speeding alone was over 300..i figured for sure shell show up..thank god she didnt...but yeah this guy was calm and nice..so maybe

I feel bad for you man!
Oh well, the only thing that I can say to SweetBudz and everyone else is to always follow the rules because when you don't, you are not just putting yourself in danger by not having your seatbelt on, but also you are putting other drivers in danger. What surprises me is that this is not the first time this has happened to you. You should learn from your mistakes man. I guess the tittle is a good label for you.

I think seatbelt violations around here run between $50-100 a pop.

IMO, seatbelt tickets are without question the easiest offenses to avoid. Like the saying goes, "Click it or Ticket." (Although I'm not sure if they use that nationwide or just in this area, so you all might not be familiar with that...)

They routinely do seatbelt checks around here - most particularly around the holidays. Cause nothing says "Happy Thanksgiving" like getting pulled over for not having your seatbelt on.

I always, always, always wear my seatbelt anyway. I saw someone on tv whose body had gone through a windshield, and, well...it was an awful sight.

I had friends who would argue with me about wearing a seatbelt in my car, because I always request (and by that I mean command) that my passengers wear one if they're in the front seat (back seat, by law, if you're over 18 you don't have to wear one here). Finally I told them they're either going to have to ride in the back or not in my car at all. I just think it's not worth the hassle of getting pulled over, ticketed, possibly searched, etc.

That's very dangerous for all the people, here in Maryland every single person has to wear seatbelts no matter what age they are.

Click-it or ticket is a national campaign, I believe. Also, I think in my State, you can't be pulled over for not wearing your seat belt, but you can be ticketed for not wearing it once you are stopped for something else (speeding, failure to yield, expired plates, etc...). I always wear it (for the reason Blondie stated), so I never worry about the specifics of the law.
