One simple message: law is being relaxed but drug is still harmful and remains illegal


As I looked at the site today I could not help but see a swath of stories on the MAPINC module (that thing on the lower righthand side of the page) from the UK blasting a wave of propaganda into the media.

And of course we can't forget their crowning achievemnet: Man dies from 'cannabis poisoning'

Why is this happening now?

True, the Brits are getting ready to downgrade the legal definition of cannabis, because as Blunkett rightly points out, it is not the same as heroin or methamphetamiens...or even steroids. But the reefer mad people there - cops mostly, it seems: surprise - are having a hissy fit about it.

Also, though, Guy Pharmaceuticles is getting ready to launch Savitex, the cannabis based medicine they are co-marketing with Bayer.I think THEY think that reclassification "sends the wrong message", specifically that cannabis is not like heroin - the underlying basis of all reefer madness - and that more people will begin to experiment with "raw cannabis" undercutting the numbers of people who will pay some outlandish price for an effective medication.

So, the message becomes, cannabis meds are only safe when a pharmaceuticle company produces, monopolizes, and forces people to pay for them. The notion that a plant could be used medicinally with little preparation outside of proper growing and curing is wholly-incompatible with the demnds of capitalism, which wants a profit pipeline from anything you can name that is efficacious.


So, here is the wave of re-doubled reefer madness designed specifically to cast doubts into people's minds, to confuse and muddy the waters of public discourse, and to simply scare people into not attempting to self medicate in the hopes of boosting and maintaining GW's stock prices.

Another case of "Profits Uber Alles", not concern for the wellness of their fellow man.

One thing I'm still wondering is are they putting the laws into place, or do they need it approved yet? And what are the penalties going to be if (or when) it is set into place?

its sad that they are spreading a lot of that crap around, but what did you expect them to do

that part three is really ****ing bad, too. i mean, there talking about pot pot pot, then BAM! your hit with a scary statistic that has nothing to do with marijuan in the first place
