I've been smoking for quite some time. Today, Feb. 12th, 2009, I, Zocalo, have proved that being a pothead is nothing to be ashamed of!

I have looked at the statistics and stereotypes and have scared them away!

My friends were worried that I was smoking weed while I was having two of the most important tests of my future academic life's safety. Basically, pass both these tests or get out of school kind of tests.

I have proved that I can study, get good grades, and still enjoy a nightly toke! I passed both tests, very hard subjects, with more than satisfactory grades. One with a 98% and the other with a lesser, but still acceptable, 80%.

Potheads are not dumb people!

Also, I'm really high right now. Victory toke, read about it in the "you know you're high" thread.

Glad things worked out for you on this one.

Although it does bring up an interesting debate as to whether it was intelligent to study for these tests ripped. Your friends objected b/c they thought smoking and studying would be a silly thing to do, especially with something as important as you say.

Now some say they feel more creative and think clearer whilst high and others feel that you should not do anything REALLY important ripped. So it's not whether you passed that determined your intelligence, from your friends perspective (and other's realistically) it's whether chancing something that big in the first place was wise to do.

Are you a pothead? Do you prefer the term "pothead" over "dopehead"?
If someone asks you if you're a pothead, do you say yes? Are you proud to be a pothead? When filling out a job application, do you write down pot smoking under the column listing hobbies?

^^^Word pothead tends to have a bad connotation. It implies dependency. I prefer the term stoner.

Not being something to be ashamed of and recognizing that other people might view it as a negative thing and elect not to hire you because of it aren't mutually exclusive. But, if a person asks me and I don't think they're going to go rat me out or something, yes, I tell them I am a pot smoker.

And I'm just as proud of smoking pot as I am about smoking cigars- not at all. It's a hobby, not a personal achievement. There's nothing to be proud ABOUT. I'm proud of the things that smoking pot has led me to, such as activism for medical marijuana and legalization which are things that I consider as more than hobbies, but to be proud of the hobby itself wouldn't make any sense to me. It's something I do for my own personal enjoyment.

And Zocalo never said he was actually PROUD of it, just that he's not ashamed of it, and sees no reason to be, and as a hobby that harms no one else and is a part of who he is, there ISN'T a reason for him to be ashamed. Maybe if he had a hobby of, say, raping people, he should be ashamed of that. But he doesn't.

EXACTLY! I'm proud of the fact that I succeeded while smoking weed, proving everyone that the stereotype of a lazy stoner isn't true. I mean I am lazy, but that was WAY before I smoked weed, believe me, but when I need to buckle down, I do, like I just proved.

Anyways, I'm proud of this because it's the 1st time I've actually tried doing both at the same time. Now I don't mean studying or taking the test high, I mean smoking weed at say, the end of a long studious day.

I actually found that it makes me more relaxed if I smoke the night before the exam. I just gotta get a bit more sleep than last night (I almost forgot the 4 formulas I needed to know to pass the exam) but that is 100% due to sleep deprevation. I went to bed at 2 AM and woke up at 7:30, and I'm used to sleeping about 9-10 hrs a day during this time of the year.

Anyways, ranting...um...yea idk, I just felt really proud of the fact that I've changed 5-10 ppls opinion about Marijuana in a single day. On both tests I got top score for the theorical part of the exam, like, exercises etc. but in the practical part not so good (I didn't rly study that part anyways).

Now...before critizicing or commenting, think about how many ppl's opinion about MJ and stoners alike u have changed in ur life time? Now...imagine that ammout all in the same day, you'll get my feeling.

Chemistry and Physics. Hard levels, like...shit u don't learn unless u wanna learn it.

Anyways, about the pothead thing, I was stoned, and I do prefer the term stoner.

And of course it has negative connotations, that's why I said I broke through the stereotypes.
